  • what I wish I could tell customers

You bought a suit for $150. You paid us $250 to tailor it. Honestly, I'll do the best I can to make it look nice for your wedding. Unfortunately, the pants, which are too tight, have about zero fabric to let out. The sleeves have real working buttonholes at the cuff. That's only added value if the sleeves are the right length to begin with. Yours are too long by and inch and a half. If you had wanted to spend even more money, I could have taken off the sleeves and shortened them from the top...oh, no I couldn't, as the sleeves are snug now, and that would make it worse. No matter how I press it,it still looks cheap.

For $400 you could have purchased something you could wear more than a couple times.

    *sigh* i totally agree ...

i am getting lazy in my old age, i have several pair of pants i need tailored but have no desire to do the work myself ... one pair is to become a halloween/con floor costume.

I learned at my mom's knee to always buy the best you can afford, it will last much longer so you don't waste money on cheap crap that will go out of style in a year ... to be honest, I saw what was effectively the same Dior suit come out of the closet at least 3 different time and all she needed to do was update the buttons and the skirt length ... now that was seriously making the investment work!

I wish I could tell our patients that WE don't decide their co-pays, co-insurance, and/or deductibles. That's all in their contract with the insurance carrier.

I have also noticed I get fewer arguments about this than my co-worker. She's in her early thirties and approachable. I'm 50, let my hair go grey, and wear tortoiseshell cat's-eye glasses. I guess I'm scary?

Naw, she went to the nice battery powered one, less fumes and quick change batteries for long run times....

I'd love to tell mine: You were charged interest because while you did pay the whole statement balance, you paid it past the due date. It's an automatic function, every credit card in the world has it, and no you aren't special. You can take you're "how dare you charge me this" specialist attitude and shove it.

I’d love to tell mine that it’s not our quality making your meal taste bad it’s the fact they can’t fucking cook the ingredients they bought in the first place.

I’d also like to say, read/listen to the fucking instructions on the self-checkouts. I have lost count of the amount of people who scan an item (ignore the loud robo-lady who says to put their shit in the bagging area.) hold it until the “I don’t want to bag this item” prompt comes up. What do they do? They press the button and put it in their bag... and then wonder why the till freaks out on them.

Dear customer, if you are on a budget... say $100 then watch the fucking bill as it goes through. Don’t tell me at $400 that by the way you only wanted to spend x amount and can I just void those extra items off? If you do, don’t bitch at me for needing an override to either restart the transaction or approve that many voids.

If you don’t have money because this city is stupidly expensive and you have no intention of coming back with more money then you brought with you. Do not say yes when we ask if you want to suspend the transaction, run home/to the car to get more money. We are not a storage facility. If you do then don’t bitch that we put items back when you didn’t show up again and it’s now been a week. Again, we are not a storage facility.

Abuse my cashiers and do not expect any leeway/discounts/or special deals. I don’t cater to assholes. And if you are an asshole then threatening to “never shop here again” is only going to make me happy. I save more money having my staff happy and at full capacity (and not crying in the cash office away from your dickiness) then I do on the $10 you might spend at any given time.

I do not tolerate racism or sexism. If you have a problem with us hiring people who are a different ethnicity/flamboyantly out of the closet/religious/or female you can shop elsewhere. I will not get you new product because you don’t want someone of the above servicing you...

One day I’ll make that comic strip with a cashier and a customer, what they say vs what they are actually thinking during the conversation. Until then, I must smile and mentally hope they go play in traffic.
Don’t worry about what I’m up to. Worry about why you are worried about what I’m up to.
