  • What lazyness is this?????

so here in the upper US Midwest there is a regional gas station/convinence chain Fast Journey (not to be confused with a VERY similar named chain south of say Chicago) that a decent variety of ready to eat/frozen/regular food/canned goods/snacks/etc.

In my area they are now offering delivery through a 3d party delivery service.

I swear we are going doing nothing but vegging out in our homes/apts/etc. just getting delivery.

I can't find the Bill Hicks bit on the post whatever and all there will be is Dominos Pizza trucks on the road
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

Not unusual, postmates in my area will do delivery from 7-11 for gods sake.

Well, I don't know about convenience chains . . . But I confess to getting groceries, sundries, lots of stuff, delivered.

But in my own defense, I can't stand up without help for more twelve minutes (yes, it's documented like that in my medical files). So having someone *else* haul my shit is an incredible blessing I'll gladly pay for.

I've been availing myself of grocery delivery lately. I have hip problems that make heavy lifting a bit of a problem, and DH currently has a broken leg. What with my job and taking care of him, I'll gladly pay some nice person to lug stuff for me. I probably save enough by staying out of stores (thus not buying impulse items) to make up for it.

My parents make use of Instacart, or something like it, given my Mom can't really travel easily between her arthritic hip and her amputated leg, and Dad has spinal stenosis. (He's had surgery and is in a lot less pain.)

Me, personally? I don't use the 'deliver your groceries' services, but I have used Uber Eats and Postmates and GrubHub.

I definitely understand the use of those services for people with medical conditions or other life circumstances that make it hard for them to physically go to a restaurant or store.

But I still visit those places in person whenever I can. I don't think it would be a good thing for physical stores and restaurants to disappear completely.

For me, an introvert with agoraphobic tendencies, it's a godsend. I love how so much can be delivered to me. Now groceries I do in person cause my partners drive us in our car, but a hell of a lot else I get delivered.

I love doing those deliveries, they're the only reason I do PostMates. Why? Because it's fun to see what I'm delivering, so far it's been beer and cigarettes, two eighteen packs of Bud Lite, and I forget what else.

As to weird places to get deliveries from, DoorDash once sent me to a bowling alley, apparently their snack bar offers delivery.

Absolutely agree. I was thinking about training to be the 'personal shopper' and carry-out person at my store, but after hearing some of the stories ... I think probably not.

and I have no problem with businesses like grocery stores or Schawns or Pea Pod doing delivery but it seems a little over the top to get delivery from a convience store.

Why? Doesn't that make a convenience store even more convenient?
