  • Why is this even an issue?...

Its been a busy night at the hotel tonight, but for the most part, its been quiet. We have some really nice people staying here tonight, and most of the customers are keeping to themselves.

There are however, always exceptions. Those exceptions for this weekend are the 12-13 year old girls staying here for a softball tournament (why is it that kids involved in sports are usually rowdy, and that there parents are all brain dead as well?).

Last night they were loud and were told to quiet down or leave (they actually quieted down). Today, I guess they went out to a movie or something and got in just now.

I lock the front entrance at 11pm, there is a sign indicating that the door is locked after 11pm and to use the room key to open the door, or dial 0 on the phone to reach me.

Dumb girls come in through the front (parents came in through the back entrance, I don't know why they all didn't come in the same entrance). The doors were locked, so they figured out that they needed to use the key to open it, and they did. Should have been the end of that, but of course not.

They meet up with the parents in the lobby and one of the girls says "Oh my god, they locked us out" in that annoying voice that all teenage girls seem to have now.

So dumb girls father comes up to me "Did you lock my girls out of the hotel?". I told him flat out "NO" as this is the stupidest thing I heard of. He checks the front door, it is locked and says "You did! Its locked!". I explain "Sir, the door has always been locked at 11pm since the building opened in 1997, it wasn't a special event that occured today only". He gave me this evil stare, and walked off.

Thats the end of my shift, time to go home now (what a way to end it, stupidity on my mind).

And if the door was unlocked, Mr Moron would have been complaining that you were deliberately putting his little angels in danger.

Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't.

Locked Out = You can't get in

The Door is Locked but you have a key/card that will open it = NOT Locked Out

True. Just once I wanna be the kind of person who whines about the slightest thing...well, I am but I'm generally not serious about it...

Because some pre-teens and teens like to make a big deal out of how embarassed they are to be seen with their families. They go out with their families and pretend that they are there without them. So they make Mom and Dad walk some distance away.

My little sister did this. I never did. I imagine it's got something to do with kids trying to establish their independence and all that. But it always struck me as being a little disrespectful to the parents.

I thought it was that the kids were let off at the front before the parents drove around to park the car. That was my impression.

It might be. But kids do like to pretend they are not with their folks.

Maybe the parents are too embarrassed to be seen with the kids? ;p
