  • I think I'll just go to McDonald's every night

Can I just vent here a bit? I'm having a Monday. So I've recently decided to take control of my eating by doing crockpot meals while I work at home. I should be able to get something in there at 8:00 and have it ready by the time I'm done when I'm usually hungry. Chicken needed to be browned this morning so I did that after getting up early. It was only cooked on the outside but I knew that if it got back to 40 degrees in a timely manner before being heated up to 165, it would be fine. It was in the fridge 2 hours and was still at 52. I dumped it to be on the safe side. I probably shouldn't have pre-browned it, but I wasn't sure I could get it done on a 15-min break, having to get everything in there. I'm home but I still have to clock for breaks. The cook time is 5 to 7 hours so that's why the delay. Anyway, my mom went and got more chicken and was annoyed that I wanted to get it in the pot right away. She likes to eat later, she says, and yet sometimes she and Brother start cooking at 4:30. There's really no schedule. She was annoyed because I stated we were out of wine and she was going to have Brother bring some home but who knows when he'll be back? The entire point was for me to do all the cooking so they wouldn't have to and to have dinner on my schedule and they could join me if they liked. It all went downhill because apparently our fridge sucks and it's too hard to even use a slow cooker while working. It's just frustration on top of what's going on with work. And it's hard to have given up having my own household but I did it for my family. Mom needs us around due to health issues and she needs us financially.

I guess I'll spend my lunch getting the dinner together using the new chicken. I haven't even eaten today and it's 12:40.

So I'm thinking of fast food every night because all I really need is meat and some vegetables. They have salads. It's not expensive if you consider what my grocery bill is usually (a lot for one person). I have enough disposable income to do it 5 days a week. Then everyone else can cook what they want and I get my dinner how and when I like it. It'll be like I'm 25 again.

Why not? If you're only dining for one, it is cheaper than cooking at home, or so I've found.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

True, and every time I have a dinner idea either they take over and use ingredients I wouldn't or they expect me to do it right away. I like having family dinner, but sometimes it's a hassle.
