  • Advice for a gift of appreciation

In my apartment building, we have several tenants who act as in loco parentis (I don't know the Latin for "in place of management" ) during the hours when the office is closed. You go to them if you have a problem and they deal with it.

It seems like every time I have a problem, I get the same tenant ... and she really goes out of her way to solve things, or at the very least, to ensure management is aware of the problem. I am thinking it's long past time to get her a gift of appreciation but TBH I have no idea where to start. Good chocolates? Wine? I don't know if either of those are problematic. Flowers are nice but ... they just sit there. Until they die. (Although I could go for a potted plant of some kind.)

    Any suggestions?

According to Google, in loco procuratio.

Find out where she likes to shop, and get her a gift card in a Thank You note.

ETA: Mrs Deserted suggests something to pamper her.

Do you know of any other tenants who have had her help them? Maybe get a card from everyone as part of it and ask if anyone would be willing to contribute something small to add to a box of gifts...? E.g. Maybe one person can donate some fancy chocolates, someone else a box of tea (if she drinks it) or whatever, that sort of thing.
