Previous Lego thread.
There is a mom and pop lego store that had a market day. So I took some stuff to trade or sell, though I didn't get to sell or trade. One guy did good, out of the 10 people who set up shop. I did talk to someone who was part of a lego group, and got info about their group and up-coming meet up in June.
Everyone was wearing masks, though one couple didn't cover their noses. This is my first outing since Covid, not counting going to the store.
I did get a Kylo Ren command shuttle lego set before Christmas, since legos were on sale then at Target and Kohls. But I was surprised the bookstore didn't have a sale.
I was lucking out at Dirt Cheap with 1/2 off legos. I even got the Harry Potter Hogworths Express train, though it was open already and missing 2 mini figs. I did want to get the Harry Potter Great Hall set. When I went to the market day, there was one guy with the Harry Potter Astonomy tower. In fact, when I went to the Official Lego Store they had all the Harry Potter sets but the Great Hall. I went there to get that specifically but ended up buying the Blacksmith shop. I thought the Blacksmith shop was too much but since I couldn't get what I wanted.
In fact, the only place I find the Great Hall is as Walmart, and I don't want to give Walmart my money, unless it's on sale.
adding: There is a small business in an upper middle class area near me that sells toys, school shoes and has a Hallmark style area that sells greeting cards and gifts. They had some lego sets and seem to add 30% (on average) to the legos. so one set was selling for $45 when at the lego website is $30. Another set was $110, when originally $75. Now they are going out of business. Covid, no doubt (the owner was talking to a customer about how Harvey, construction 2 years ago that was blocking the parking lot, other disasters led him to close the shop) is one reason leading to the closing, but selling legos for 25% and more, might be another reason (I don't know how the other toys are being upmarked). Esp. since there is a Barnes and Noble 2 blocks away that sells lego.
