Retail workers are quitting at record rates for higher-paying work: ‘My life isn’t worth a dead-end job’

Why should they stay on? What with mismanagement breathing down their necks and every other shopper a Karen? Who needs it?
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

I will never work another retail job if I can help it. Even if the pay is better than what I am making now. Why? Customers treat retail workers like garbage, and management doesn't have their employees' backs. Plus, with corporate always cutting payroll hours yet still expecting the same amount of customer service and store cleanliness, it's not worth it at all. Shit rolls downhill, and when corporate 'penalizes' a store for not making that month's sales figures by further cutting hours it just feels like you're beating your head against a wall. So, if something better comes along, of course people are going to jump ship. But the corporate big pigs refuse to see that this is all their own doing.
