Former pro wrestler Daffney Unger (real name Shannon Claire Spruill) died on Wednesday September 1st, and it appears it was suicide.
She had posted a video talking about how she may have been suffering from the effects of a degenerative brain disorder caused by repeated concussions, and said that she wanted her brain to be studied.
Family and friends requested that the police go to her home for a wellness check, when she was found.
In the 90's, she was a bright spot in the declining days of WCW, where she was a bright spot and a fan favorite. She would work later in TNA Wrestling where she was suffered a major concussion in a match against an undertrained rookie. Daffney filed a workers' compensation claim against the company because of the injury, and the claim was settled out of court.
