  • what the hell?????

Okay so last night getting ready to go home and this dude calls in because his phone was cancelled and wants to know why he has to pay a month in advance. I tell captian drippy that the reason for this is because we charge in advance but the calls are from the month behind. So then he says he wanted the phone cancelled under our return policy of 15 days. I advise him that since he is out of 15 days no can do with out 200 plus tax. He starts telling me he called the sales office and wanted the phone cancelled and he's willing to pay for the services but since no one told him he had to return his phone as part of the deal wants me to waive the 200. He then starts going on about how he used the phone until he was suspended for non pay and wants me to work with him
So after 20 min I advise him that sine he used the phone and kept it after 15 days no way am I going to even request this. He then starts going off on how unfair we are. After he admited to keeping the phone.
I advised him that he has had several chances to return the phone and call us because the phone was on. He then says what type of normal person does this. I just think well you don't seem normal to me.
This call lasts over 30 min with the due saying we aren't fair and need to help him. My thought is if you don't call us and want the phone cancelled, hmmmmm why not call in the 15 days. (in the words of Carlos Mencia DEE DEE DEE).
He ends up asking for a sup which screwed him over because the one who was taking over does not do anything nice for anyone.

I had something similiar to this once. We had a customer who told us that after his contract was up, he didn't want the phone anymore, so he just stopped paying the bills. And apparently ignored the disconnect notices as well. See, we go month to month after the contract is up (don't most cell phone companies do this nowadays?) so he was billed up until we cut him off for non-pay. Then he finally called us back (we had left about a dozen messages) after a collection agency called. He was screaming so loudly that I had to take my headset off. I think my coworker was going to send him a copy of his bills, and he wrote on the fax cover sheet "When you choose to act in a civilized manner, we will be happy to assist you."

So apparently, the moral of this story is that if you want want anything, just ignore it and don't pay your bill and it will go away.

The company I work for does a month to month which I like plus we only ask you to renew your contract for a new phone.

Well, yeah, if you are talking about any services. But when you get rid of one problem, you start another.

Don't be silly. What type of normal person does that?

He probably just thinks everyone is Wal-Mart and you can return something whenever you want. I get that a lot. "Well, I don't even like this phone, why should I have to sign a contract/pay for a new one?" If you didn't like it, you should have returned it. Let me call the Waambulence for you.

I love those people. Okay, yes, if you stop paying your bill your service will cancel. But you'll still need to pay for the service that was active until that happened. Most of mine catch it on the first or second bill, but I had a guy a month ago who called in and wanted a credit for the last 14 months since his contract expired because he hadn't wanted to keep the service active. He said his secretary pays all his bills so he didn't even know he was still paying us until he sat down to review his company expenses earlier that day. I always tell them the same thing: We are not a prepaid service, we don't bill based on service used but for the service has a whole. I let him know he was month-to-month, but that the service doesn't automatically terminate when the contract is over, that we cannot make any changes to his service without his request or without notifying him first. He wasn't happy because his business was in the toilet and he needed that money back. Too bad he didn't review his expenses more than once every year and a half or so, was it really a surprise to him that his company sucks?
