  • Why did you ask me?

I work at a Petstore, and a lady asked me about dog food.

    Me-Of course Me
    SC-Sucky Customer

SC-I am feeding my dog Science Diet I/K dog food (its a prescription dog food that is only available through vets) and I do not what to keep paying the high price that the vet charges. What is similar that you sell?

Me-Nothing. Its a prescription diet. The reason it is prescription is because it has less protein then what is required by government regulations. Dog foods have to have certain percentages of protein, fat, and other things.

SC-I know that but what is similar

Me-I am sorry but there is nothing similar which would be why it is prescription dog food

SC-I know that. I am not dumb.

Me-I don't know what you need from me then.

SC-I am just going to buy something,

Me-Ok (Thinking: Why did you ask me if you knew everything, and did not what my opinion)

Customer's never listen. If the insist on being a total moron, I tell them they can do whatever they want. Actually...think I might have a thread to start about that.

Of course, no lives are in danger in the case of my line of work... unlike if this woman potentially fed her dog food she wasn't supposed to... idiot.
I will not shove “it” up my backside. I do not know what “it” is, but in my many years on this earth I have figured out that that particular port hole is best reserved for emergency exit only. -GK

Agh. It's one thing if people are too stupid to follow their own doctor's advice about their own health, but to ignore their vet about their pet, who really doesn't have a say in the matter, goes beyond stupid.

She was looking for validation, I think. She wanted you to say that her dog didn't need a prescription diet after all, and El Cheapo brand is just as good. That way, instead of feeling like someone too cheap to pay for proper health care for her dog, she can feel like a smart consumer.

Too bad, lady. No respectable pet store employee is going to advise you stop following vet's orders.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com
