Now, this happened about a week ago; was somewhat confusing at first. Now, I was sitting at my till during a quiet spot when this old lady, in tears, came up to my till and started shouting a whole lot of garble at me. I couldn't understand what the hell she was going on about at first; her garbled speech included such gems as "You are prejudiced against the elderly!" and "I'm going to tell all my friends not to come here ever again!" and the killer, "No wonder you're losing all your money and customers to *rival supermarket*!"
By this time of course, I'd quietly pressed the supervisor button to summon a supervisor to deal with this poor crazed old lady; one duly arrived and took her outside. Now, I had to serve some customers so I didn't find out what the hell was going on until afterwards, when I found out that the reason she was throwing a temper tantrum was cuz she signed a cheque... and the cashier checked her signature on the cheque against the cheque card.
That's right, you read that clearly. Apparently, cuz we have this policy where we have to compare a signature on a cheque with the one on the back of a cheque card, we're prejudiced against old people and accusing them of stealing cards and forging people's signatures. Confused? Me too.
