  • Who was suckier?

    Had an interesting one today...

I was waiting at the service desk to purchase my tasty beverage before going on my lunch break (the person working back there invited me up, one of the perks of working there ). The woman in front of me got to the counter and snarled at the clerk "Tell the bleep-hole with the vending machine company to move his damn truck! He's parked at an angle and he's got me parked in! He needs his ass kicked! "

Clerk called up to the break room where the guy was refilling our vending machines and asked him to move his truck (it's a big, delivery-van style truck), which he did do.

When vending guy returned to the break room to finish up, he told us "Some dumb 25-year old(vulgar term for a certain part of the female anatomy) was parked in a senior citizen's spot and she had plenty of room to back her car out! I had to stop what I was doing and move for that? I tell you, some people's children..."

BTW, the senior citizen parking spots are parking spots near the front of the lot, next to the handicapped spots, that have little signs reading "Preferred parking for our senior citizen customers." It's more or less a courtesy thing; you're not breaking any laws if you park there and aren't a senior citizen but you might get looked at a little funny.

So I wonder, who in your opinion was suckier? The vending machine guy or the lady who wanted him to move his truck? I have a hard time telling when the two people seem to be equally defective but for different reasons.

It was the lady that was sucky in my opinion. Mainly because she had the room to back out yet believed life stops and starts at her convenience.

The customer. She wanted the world to stop and to mess up the vendor's schedule at her convenience AND she took a spot from an old person. Her karma sucks.......

        Both.

Just because according to Vending guy there was enough room to back out, doesn't mean the driver of that vehicle was comfortable or able to exit with that amount of room. He was sucky for blocking a car in.

If it is not illegal to park in a certain spot, merely courteous. Then I would call that merely rude, or mildly sucky.

However I see no need for either of then to use that sort of language, and award them both points for that.

        All in all, a tie.

Yeah, they both were sucky. I am not comfortable backing out of anywhere, where there is something in the way. Once, when I was going to leave, there was a mail man, parked right there in the way. I went and asked if he could move, and he got an attitude about it. I had to wait just about 15 minutes for him to finally move. That jackass

but here is another question . . .was the vending machine truck their first . . .or did the 25 yr old park in the spot first?

If the truck was their first - well not his fault . . .she chose the space knowing where his truck was.

If her car was their first . . .sounds like he thought he left her room but it wasn't quite enough. Name calling wasn't necessary but I can understand his frustration.

As for the parking in a Sr Spot - I don't see anything wrong with going to the local Assisted Living Home on nice weather days . . . setting up a bench in front of those spots . . .and let them make comments to the "young whiper snappers" that take those spaces. ( I would say hand them rotten tomatoes to throw at the cars but that would be vandalization of property )

I was thinking the same thing, if she was there first then maybe she is one of those people that need the whole parking lot to pull out. I have also seen some vendors who think that they can park where ever(like blocking the front doors) and it is ok. I will never understand how people think.

I agree, it depends on who was there first if the vendor was sucky or not. She was most definitely. If she had come in a politely said, "Can you ask him to move, I can't back out around him?" then I wouldn't call her sucky. Slightly rude for parking in the senior spot but if it's not against the law there's nothing you can do about that.

Besides, she's sounds kinda crotchety like old people get, so maybe she deserves the spot after all...

I've seen "mothers will small children" spots but never senior spots...that's not a bad idea...(then again if they keep designating special spots, at some point the rest of us are gonna be parking at the opposite end of the lot! )

They are both to blame, somewhat.

                  The lady:
*No reason to be as rude as she was about it at all.
*Parked in a senior citizen space (impolite/rude, but what can ya do).
*Would be more at fault if the delivery guy was there first.

                  The delivery guy:
                  *No need for the language.
*Would be more at fault if the delivery guy was there first.

The way I see it, even though they are both at fault here, the lady was a bit worse. Not by much, but worse nonetheless.

                  *All IMO, of course.

Both sucky, but the woman was suckier. Because:

                    1. She started off in royal bitch mode.
                    2. There was no need to use that kind of language to the clerk at the desk.
                    3. She parked where she shouldn't have, doesn't have the same legal implications that the Handicaped ones do, but the property owners could have still had her towed if the space and regs were properly marked with all the legal signs.
                    4. I can understand not being comfortable with backing up in certain situations or with driving in certain conditions. But that is something that we all have to get used to. Maybe its just me living in Southern California and venturing into LA from time to time, or learning to be forceful getting out of dodger stadium. But I have a big car (Lincoln town car) and have no problem getting in and out of tight areas. Granted I tend to take spots further back if I have to since my car is wider and I need more room to get in and out of my car then the wifes van. But the ability to no your vehicle comes with experience, and being able to pull out of tight areas also comes with experience, at 25 I had no problem with this, but it is different with different people. Either starting driving at a later age, or their teachers weren't as good as others.

                    The guy
                    1. No reason to drop the C-Bomb, its one thing if you are hanging out with your buddies, or a group that its not acceptable. You just don't drop it in mixed company. You expecially don't drop it in a work place setting, and driving a route I would call a work place setting. Even worse sense your store is his client, and he dropped it infront of his client.

                    2. If he truelly boxed her in, then he is more in the wrong. But I'm sure his opinion and her's will differ.

Basically I would say that they are both a couple of fartknockers.
My Karma ran over your dogma.

I had a 17 year old come in, walk around, then try to apply for a membership. They told her no (under 18) and she left. She came back in screaming 5 mins later, her car was being towed. Turns out she parked in a handicapped spot, a manager checking the lot out saw her, saw the car had no handicapped plate or sign, and called the tow. Best day ever.
