I was working drive up today so when the time was exactly 12:00 pm, I shut down everything and bought back the tubes. There was also NOBODY at the drive up when I closed down. Remember this fact.

A customer drives up at 12:01 pm asking me to help him. I didn't want to cause then that would give an idea to another customer, so I told him we are closed. He insisted I help him. So i caved and helped him cause he only had a deposit which is fine cause I already cut a batch. After I helped him, ANOTHER car drives up (Hell freaking no! I told the guy the bank closes at 12pm and it was 12:04 pm when he drove up. He gave me some bullshit story about how he was in back of him all this time. Did this IDIOT realize that there were TWO closed signs? I helped the other guy out of courtesy. NO MORE! After two times I told the guy, I just stop talking and ignored him. I don't care if he complains, I was CLOSED at exactly 12:00 pm and I helped another customer out of courtesy.

And that is exactly why some people refuse to help anyone at all after closing because then someone else will pull up and expect to be helped also because, "You helped them." (either said in a whiny voiced or yelled at you.)

Yep but this time I didn't back down. I just ignored the guy when he left.

That's why I'm so strict about closing time. I close at 9:00, not one second later. If you arrive at three seconds after 9, you are out of luck.

I'm really easy-going otherwise, but I've been burned like that too many times. Now, I am a complete and utter bitch about it. I have to be.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com

I am very easygoing to but I can't stand people who just IGNORE the CLOSED signs and expect me to help them although we have been closed for 15 minutes. Believe me, a stupid customer came to the drive up at 4:15 pm and we have already put EVERYTHING away and he told me he is making a deposit Idiot.

Good for you for not caving! Otherwise you know that tomorrow he'd be at some other branch past closing whining "but the OTHER branch does it for me!!" Sadly, this is the kind of world we live in.

I know exactly how you feel! I get the "they do it for me all the time" nonsense.

i had something similar to me happen when i was in high school. at the time, i was working at the local weinerschitzel and i stopped by after a football game, to get something to eat.

i walk up to the front door, and there are 2 biker type guys all leathered out wanting in but the resturant part was closed and only the drive thru was open. so i walked up and stood with them for a bit, and noticed that no one was in the front counter area. so i walked around to the back door and knocked, they let me in.

i guess the biker guys noticed that my car hadnt left the parking lot (it was very small) and decided to walk around to the drive thru window. they look in and see me sitting behind the counter, and they say what is this crap. why do you get let in and we dont.

i tell them well the seating area is closed,
well your inside, we should be let in too,
                oh, i work here.
oh we thought they werent letting us in because we were bikers.
hardly, my parents are bikers, and my co workers parents are bikers, you dont scare us.

they had a good laugh and kind of hung out in the window area talking to us, for a bit before they took their food to the outside eating area to finish their dinner.

It's great that you and the bikers got off on a friendly tone! I am surprised that after 1 and half years of working at the bank that nobody questioned me or the tellers when they let me in before business hours.

Oh no! How dare you want to go home!

I would love to know if those SC's clock off from their jobs at 5pm straight every night or if they are happy to work unpaid overtime too!

I close at or just after the posted hours. I have a life, my managers have a life, there are branches with extended hours (that you are too busy whining at me to find out where they are) and anything you do Saturday does not post till Monday at midnight. Thank Gord I am out of the bank in just over a week!

My favorite SC showed up around a quarter after closing. I had already shut the computer down and was waiting to finish closing up. The SC tried arguing the time she pulled up (her clock was several minutes slow: not my problem). Um no tubes in the lane, you show up 15 minutes after the posted closing time? No money for you!

At my current summer job, I base it on what inventory I've done so far and whether or not I've counted my money yet. Even though I close early, my co-workers manage to close even earlier so I have all the customers coming to me. Usually if I make it seem like a big hassle to do whatever task it is, I can get a decent tip out of the person. Hooray for concession!

It's kinda fun seeing the "poor" people come in after we close, and try out the doors.

Closed Door + Lights Off = Closed. Not Closed Door + Lights off = Open.
