  • Would you open earlier so I can shop here?

We were asked that by a woman who came in at 5:25. She was quick and otherwise fine she made some inane comment about how she passes every morning at 8:30 on her way to work, and never finishes in time to catch us.
'Oh, that's a shame' I say, thinking, we open till 8 on a thursday and we're open saturdays and sundays too. Surely you cna come in then?

ANyway, on her way out of the door se asks- not jokingly- 'could you open at about 8 or so from now on so I can shop here in the mornings?'

We all sort of just smile at her, and after the door is closed after her and is locked, all of us say, in unison- 'No.'

That a nice variation of when a guy called my cell phone store:

It was a few minutes to close and I was hovering near the door, getting ready to lock it right at close. My co-worker got the phone so I wouldn't have to and this was the gist of the conversation.

        "What time you close?"
        "6 pm."
"Oh, can you stay open 'til about 6:10? I'm on my way there now!"
        "Nope." *click*

The thing is: there is a corporate-owned kiosk, that does everything the store does, in the mall just five miles down the road that was open until 9 pm. I'm still trying to figure out why it was so difficult for them to hit that one if they couldn't make it to ours in time.
