  • I can be an SC too at times...

So yeah... I have my moments as well.

One day I was at a fast-food chain that has delicious rice bowls... I was ordering one of those rice bowls, and the following exchange occurred:

    Me: Me
    CG: Cashier gal

    Me: <places order>
    CG: That'll be $6.91
    Me: <hands her a $5 and 2 $1's -- $7>
    CG: ...That'll be $6.91.
    Me: ....
CG: *fans the money out* That'll be $6.91
Me: (I'm afraid I was a bit rude on this.) *points and counts out* "Five, six, seven."

So yeah... I could've handled that better. Though how do you respond when a cashier is having a Bad Math Day?

(On an aside, I think I ran into her again a few weeks ago... I gave her a $10 for an order that was $7.xx, and she handled me back 3 $1's and change, fanned out like the first encounter. Of course, I gave her back the extra $1... I didn't say anything this time.)

So anyway... if you're reading this, cashier-lady... sorry for being rude.

Doesn't sound to me like you were that rude. Why the heck is somebody on the register when they can't even do basic addition/subtraction? Or even just type the amount into the register and trust it to do the work for her?
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

I bet she thought that $1 was her tip, LOL.

No you were not rude. It probably didn't dawn on her that you gave her a 5 and two 1's.

            Gotta agree... not an SC...

I've been on the same end as the cashier before (as I'm sure more than one other here have)... you weren't insulting about it and if it'd been me I'd have probably tried to make a joke of it!

I think she did... She gave me a very cheerful "Thank You" when I handed it to her... >.>

haha, i've only had that happen once. i was paying for a $400 xbox in 20s and 10s, and the 2 10s stuck together

i haven't been trained on the register though, since we're super low on cart pushers

I'd be afraid...very afraid...and if I were a coworker of hers, there would be no way in hell she'd be allowed NEAR my register.
