  • "Hehehehe! Kids!"

For those of you who don't know, in parts of the uk, it's half term. This means lots of kids being dragged round the shops by parents, grandparents or childminders, and being bored as a result. It also means guardians who don't normally deal with their kids in school hours being frusrated and shouty. It also means inevitable non-parenting skills.

So, I've been tidying one of the shelves that has been seriously messed up with our big sale on at the moment, and there is this obviously bored kid watching me. His mum is yammering on her phone and discussing what to buy- barely even looking at me or him. Just as I finish tidying the shelf, facing stuff up, neatening where stuff goes, this kid sticks his hand in and waggles it about, messing up the display worse than it had been previously.

    Does she tell him off?
No. She just looks at me, and repeats my title
    "*giggle* Kids, hey!"
    Me: Yes. Kids.

I swear, if one more person just goes *giggle* Kids!" to me instead of attempting to correct misbehavior in their children, I will eat their brats.

On the other hand- Kudos to those parents who ahd good parenting down and managed to correct misbehavior, but without being all screamy and aggressive and making the whole shopping thing unpleasant for them, their kids, the staff and other shoppers (as I had plenty of people telling their kids they were 'little sh*ts' today as well). Your children will probably NOT be robbing old ladies for drug money.

Argh I HATE half term. It should be abolished. I hate going to work and all you can hear is crying and screaming, you're wandering around with boiling hot plates and kids are constantly ramming into you. Take your kids to the zoo! Not a bar!

The correct answer to that comment is "No, parents."

        More like "No parents."
Any day you're looking down at the dirt instead of up at the dirt is a good day.

I'm intrigued. Where can I find the entire work?

Um... There WAS an LJ community called Movies in 15 minutes, but I think that ended when the originator of all these spoofs of movies got her spoofs into print. I could be wrong though.

No, no, no! It's still half term and I have to go to work in 15 minutes. The pain, the anguish, the clearing up I'll have to do. *sigh* I'll tell you what, some of the parents are just as bad. I've seen people drag clothes off the hanger and then throw them on the floor when they don't want them. And all the while their spawn is wrecking a display at the other end of the store. *sigh*

Well, I took a google search, and here's what I found:

                    Prisoner of Azkaban
                    http://community.livejournal.com/m15m/2237.html

                    Goblet of Fire
                    http://community.livejournal.com/m15m/15640.html

It says the first book is simply in print.

                    Other than that...
Yeah, even as a customer I hate when children start screaming. I'm well known for hating children of most sorts, and yesterday while walking in a store with my mother, I saw a kid who was crying over some sort of spilled milk (My initial reaction is always 'how will this affect them in 20 years?'). I started pleading (Not unlike a seven year old), could I please, please kick that kid in the face.

                    "Mom?"
                    "Hmm?"
"May I kick that kid in the face? Pleeease?"
                    "No."
                    "Pretty please?"
                    "No."
                    "Please please please?"

All under our breaths so that the kid and mother wouldn't hear.

There are times when kids have startled me by brushing against my legs and I almost did kick them relflexively, thankfully I realized what they were before I actually did any kicking.

Rinkworks has had the "Movie-A-Minute" feature for ages, it doesn't get updated much these days though
