  • Power of Words

    Hello fellow posters.
I have something that has been on my mind . . .and after some discussion detemined this might be the best way to bring it to light.

There are some terms that get used to describe people that actually have other meaning to some of us.

For example Witch - I know that we have some wonderful members whose personal belief systems have a different view of that word than what the Wizzard of Oz would have us believe. A Witch can be a wonderful warm carring person who does wonderful things for the planet. (among other positive images I can think of)

For me personally the term Wench - I happen to belong to the International Wenches Guild. We are women who happen to enjoy Rennisance Fair's. We are big hearted, do community service, and are a wonderful support/ saftey net for one another. (Wench = Woman Entitled to Never-ending Complete Happiness)

Basically what I am saying is that seeing these terms used to negativly describe SC's can cause hurt feelings without intent to do so by the poster.

So I want to keep this thread positive . . . if you have a term that you are personally "linked" to please note it here and explain why the negative notion needs to go away.

If you can think of other non -curse words to use please feel free to list them. - If you see one on the list that, you have a link to - turn around and clear up why is shouldn't be used.

For those who have used the terms in the past. I am hoping this thread will be seen as educational / informative. Not judgemental toward you. If we don't speak up and tell others hey this word has meaning to me - you won't know it.
