  • You want to do what to my employee?

To start off, this was an error from my side due to some misinformation. Our telecom shop sells 2 kinds of insurances. One from our own store, one from a company called Safe&Sure. As far as I know, both used to cover theft, however, our store's insurance doesn't do that anymore. I have a couple of guesses about it containing the word 'scam', but I am not sure how the other insurance company deals with it when it comes to theft.

Second thing. He wasn't sucky, just a bit... scary. I enjoyed the fact he actually read the contract or read on the site of the insurance company what the general terms and conditions are, something I should be doing as well, since everything seems to be different than 6 months ago. Being there on the weekends only makes one miss out on certain changes.

However, the customer found out that our company's insurance doesn't cover theft at all, oops, my bad, can happen right? Although it would suck if his phone would get stolen within 7 days. I was told the first 8 days of insurance were free trial days, hope that was true lol.

So I was coming back from a trip to the glorious enchanted land of goodness that our back room and wanted to step back in the cave of doom when my colleague came back in an said: 'ehm... I think you should wait... someone wants to rip you a new one. Apparently our company's insurance doesn't cover theft anymore.' I was interested immediately, I am a bit of a perfectionist and like to do everything as good as possible at work since I don't like letting people down and stuff, so whenever I did something wrong, I like to know how to do it right.

So I grabbed my coffee and listened at the door. The door's always open and I could hear the customer, I was literally standing next to him, just with a little wall between us and an open door. And he was mumbling and bitching, but my manager, who is just the sweetest person in the (management) world said: 'well, it is a little vague on which insurance covers what since they changed policies lately, so my apologies for making that mistake'.

The guy bitched some more... even though I was standing next to him I couldn't hear him, but my manager suddenly said: 'you want to do what?! No, I don't think that's a good idea...' So I was grinning and enjoying my coffee when my manager came in and asked:

M: did you say our company's insurance covers theft?
Me: well yeah, if you can clearly prove that the phone has been stolen and blah blah...
M: they don't do that anymore, they changed policy, as far as Safe&Sure goes, they have some weird policy on it.

So, that was that... Tomorrow I am going to find out which insurance does what since they left me in charge of the insurances for the weekend, would be nice if I wouldn't screw up like that anymore

Edit: another minor screw - up. This would fit better in the sub category 'Oops' I think. A little too quick on the submit button. Meh, I want this day to be over, it's cursed... lol
