SC: "Your f***ing ATM stole my munny! I wanted $300 and it gave me $100."
Me: "Ok, that's happened before, I'll just need to take your details and..."
SC: "No! That's my pay! I've got four kids!"
Me: "Well I don't have a key for the machine, I'll have to get the manger who can deal with it..."
    SC: "Oh f*** this!"...
Followed by more ranting, me trying to explain that I need to get a phone number and have the manager call her back to sort it out. Eventually the SC threw money at me for the fuel she'd taken and stomped out to her car.

I called the manager and told him about it. After a few minutes the SC was still sitting in her car not going anywhere, so I went outside and got her details.

When the manager came in, he called her up and explained that sometimes the ATM runs out of money and when that happens it gives out what it can, which may not be what you requested. (I confirmed this with the next customer to use the ATM, who said "I think your ATM's out of money or something, it's only giving me a balance check") When that happens the reciept will say "Amount requested: $300, amount dispensed: $100" or something like that.

Afterwards the manager said that the SC said I swore at her, but he figured she probably swore at me and I replied "same to you". I really don't remember swearing or being a smart arse, but it could have happened.

ATMs these days know when they don't dispense the right amount. Every time this has happened to me, my account has only been hit for the actual amount dispensed.

Maybe people like that should just be paid in cash.

Wouldn't it have been simpler if she just paid attention to what the ATM slip said instead of having a hissy fit? BUT then again we're talking about an SC here...lol.

They never pay attention to the ATM slips, heck, you should see how many I used to find left at the ATM, sometimes hanging out of the printer, ditto for gas pumps (bizarre considering that some of these require you to select to receive a receipt at the beginning).

Plus some ATMs give the option of not getting a receipt, so she might have selected that option.

This was about a year ago, but I requested $300 (max amount) from the ATM at my bank, and it gave me $20, but the receipt claimed it gave me $300. Thank goodness it was during business hours, so I took it straight inside. The teller's computer verified that it really did ding me for only $20. I was quite relieved! Since that day, I don't let DH get his money before I get mine. I still claim he broke the machine! heehee.
