One thing that has become an irritant are SC's who report a problem, but are uncooperative about providing any information you need to fix it. This was a call I took earlier today, regarding an SC's inability to make long distance phone calls.
SC: You know who
Me: Yours truly
Me: Thank you for calling, my name is greensinestro. How many I help you?
SC: I know you can't help, but still, I need to report not being able to call Brazil.
Me: All right, would you verify your ENTIRE address please? (Emphasis mine)
SC: (Gives me her street only, no city, state, or zip)
Me: I'll need the entire address please, including city, state, and zip code.
SC: (Getting upset, but verifies it, which was Boca fucking Raton, FL!)
Me: Thank you, and you're reporting being unable to call overseas to Brazil, correct?
SC: I don't need to repeat it, because I've called every month with this issue! (She last called us six months ago with this)
Me: I apologize, and I'll be happy to help you. I will need an example of one of the numbers you've called.
SC: Look, I don't have time to provide the details. Just report this issue!
Me: I can report it, but it will not be corrected without at least one call example.
SC: I hate your attitude and your rudeness!
Me: Maam, I can assure you, my attitude is fine, and it is not rude of me to ask for required information. Now, may I have a number that you have called?
SC: (She gives it to me, while having another conversation with her husband and housekeeper in the background, talking about things not related to this issue)
Me: Thank you, and I'll also need to ask when you last tried that number.
SC: I don't have a stopwatch like you do where it tells me every time I've called someone! Just fix my issue!
Me: (I just gave up and said....) All right, maam, but without the information we need, it will take much longer to resolve your problem.
SC: Fine! I don't appreciate your polite tone being I find it rude!
Me: Yes, maam, you have already established that. Here is your case number.....
SC: (And hung up after I gave her the case number)
I have yet to get a kind and polite Boca Raton resident who can just be cooperative and provide what is needed to help them out. This is also not the first time I have been told I'm being rude because of my polite tone of voice, and it must be because they're upset they don't have someone speaking on their same level.
Can anyone else tell me if it's unreasonable to get details when a customer reports a problem?
