  • Just fix my problem and stop asking for details!

One thing that has become an irritant are SC's who report a problem, but are uncooperative about providing any information you need to fix it. This was a call I took earlier today, regarding an SC's inability to make long distance phone calls.

    SC: You know who
    Me: Yours truly

Me: Thank you for calling, my name is greensinestro. How many I help you?

SC: I know you can't help, but still, I need to report not being able to call Brazil.

Me: All right, would you verify your ENTIRE address please? (Emphasis mine)

SC: (Gives me her street only, no city, state, or zip)

Me: I'll need the entire address please, including city, state, and zip code.

SC: (Getting upset, but verifies it, which was Boca fucking Raton, FL!)

Me: Thank you, and you're reporting being unable to call overseas to Brazil, correct?

SC: I don't need to repeat it, because I've called every month with this issue! (She last called us six months ago with this)

Me: I apologize, and I'll be happy to help you. I will need an example of one of the numbers you've called.

SC: Look, I don't have time to provide the details. Just report this issue!

Me: I can report it, but it will not be corrected without at least one call example.

SC: I hate your attitude and your rudeness!

Me: Maam, I can assure you, my attitude is fine, and it is not rude of me to ask for required information. Now, may I have a number that you have called?

SC: (She gives it to me, while having another conversation with her husband and housekeeper in the background, talking about things not related to this issue)

Me: Thank you, and I'll also need to ask when you last tried that number.

SC: I don't have a stopwatch like you do where it tells me every time I've called someone! Just fix my issue!

Me: (I just gave up and said....) All right, maam, but without the information we need, it will take much longer to resolve your problem.

SC: Fine! I don't appreciate your polite tone being I find it rude!

Me: Yes, maam, you have already established that. Here is your case number.....

SC: (And hung up after I gave her the case number)

I have yet to get a kind and polite Boca Raton resident who can just be cooperative and provide what is needed to help them out. This is also not the first time I have been told I'm being rude because of my polite tone of voice, and it must be because they're upset they don't have someone speaking on their same level.

Can anyone else tell me if it's unreasonable to get details when a customer reports a problem?

did you check the number? Maybe she was hesitant because it's something she would consider "private" lol, but more likely she's just a pain in the arse.

My aunt lives in Boca Raton as well. She's also very nice and...wants to leave.

            So yeah, never mind.

This is so true - every time I got someone from Boca in the last call center I was at they were rude as hell.

Ironically, I was actually taking calls at the time for.. a company located in Boca Raton. They had some significant damage to their warehouse and offices when Wilma hit, and people were so furious that a natural disaster would keep them from getting their damn order shipped for a few days. Including people located in Boca.

Sure, I'll be happy to ship waterlogged clothes!

When I was growing up in South Florida in the late 1970's and early 1980's, Boca Raton was nothing like it is today. I lived in Deerfield Beach, just south of Boca, and there was not the explosion of homes (that none of us can afford), let alone the explosion of rude, nasty-ass, non-residential people who have no business even living here, if you can even call them people at all.

However, we still had and even do today have troublemakers in a community called Century Village. At one time, that was the only place where rotten people were thought of living. Today, anywhere in South Florida has them.

Honest to god, the first time someone bitches at me for being polite and them considering it rude I'm gonna say this:

                      "OK Shithead, is this better?"

They deserve it. You don't want to be treated with a bit of respect, fine I'm gonna treat you like you're treating me now.

Look, you're happy and all by being polite, smiles, and all. These type of people are happy being miserable, and they want to take down as many of us as they possibly can.

Whatever you do, I find it works better to stay polite. The nastier they get, the more polite you get. You're not being rude, and if they complain...what's going to happen? Since you weren't rude, there's not really much they can complain about. I've always used that approach when dealing with assholes. If they're that willing to give themselves a heart attack over something trivial, I'm only too happy to oblige

She thinks your polite tone is rude? Maybe if you told her to shove off, she would have complimented you on your excellent customer service.

I had a spinster aunt who moved to Boca back in the late 80's. Believe me when I say that her character traits fit right in with the story told here. Strangely enough, the only people she wasn't rude and obnoxious around were other rude and obnoxious people. If you treated her nice, she treated you like crap. If you treated her like crap, she was nice as pie toward you.
