Ive not had a good week.
    Im not going into details.
but i have to share this.
    Woman calls
She is annoyed right off the bat when i ask for zip code.
I ask for her name, to spell it reconfirm her last name (i only reconfirm first when they are weird) do my spiel. ask if its credit or debit, she says visa. I sigh inwardly and say again was that a Credit or a debit card.
get the card account type, card type, number, exp, CVC and verify every thing
    ask for addess.
    1-8-00 dumbass st
i ask her to spell it because what the street really is sounds like a street in my area and she pronuced it kind of lispy so i wanted to double check spelling
she spells it out. I verify 1-800 dumbass st
She cuts me off right as i say street and starts complaining
Why dont you verfiy any customer information except credit card information.
    Im sorry what?
Why dont you verify custyomer informatio besides the card number, all you ever done is ask me to spell.
Im sorry, i was verfiying maybe you just didnt hear, though proper spelling would be nice to locate you.... again that was 1-800 dumbass st right
    NO 1800!!!!
    thats right 1-800, 1-8-0-0, dumbass, d-u-m-b-a-s-s st
I dont know why you have to be so rude, all i want you to is get my info right

So it was ok for her to be stupid but you couldn't fling that right back at her? I would get that a LOT at Wal-Mart. I'd get customers who were like the lady you just described & when I tried to have a sassy comeback then all hell would break loose.
So it seems the customer can talk to you in any way they want but lest you do the same thing then you're damned.

That's why you get paid the big bucks.

I just now watched my brain leave my skull, crawl into my freezer (why am I sitting next to my freezer? I have no idea, the fan's warm?), shut the door and suffocate itself. Now I have to locate a cadaver to get a new brain, dangit.

That lady was cracked. Yipes. I'd have ripped into her.

But then again my accent's so thick she'd have complained about it. *Twitch*

Do you mean that you were meant to ask "What is the problem ?" ?

Because, if that is the case, that is only a small mistake. It's a shame that in context it made it easy for her to take it the wrong way - I assume you didn't use the sarky voice that's appropriate to "What's your problem ?".

I ask people what their problem is all the time - as an informal way of finding out what they want me to do for them. I can see why it was bad to let it slip out when someone was already angry with you - but it sounds like a small mistake. Not something you should beat yourself up about.
