  • Hey kids its okay to disrupt a movie!!

Well Well!!!!! Apparently it 's become okay for people to talk and play on their phones in a movie theater while the movies playing.

I had a lady come out and complain to me about kids who were more interested in playing on their phones rather than watch the movie. Once I saw who the kids were I knew who they were. REPEAT OFFENDERS! Basically kids with nothing better to do than come to the movies not so much to see the movie , but to just hang out.

I see the kids playing around on their phones, not watching the movie and yell at them to put the phones up or leave. They did what I told them and there were no further problems.

Well this is where the nosey customer sticks there nose in.
At the end of the movie, he complains to my co manager refering to me by color and bitches at me because I should have asked them to step outside to talk on their phones or asked them nicely?
When I try to explain that #1 they had been wondering around into each theater in the building.
#2 two people had come out and complained.
#3 These were kids that come here every weekend and do the same thing over and over and we receive the same complaint, this guy says that it did not matter. I have no right to yell at them and call them out.

Well first according to the parents who dropped them off they were not suppose to be in the movie that I found them in and they were told to not have there phones on in the movie. But oh no!!!!! This guy tells me that he has 400 employees and if any of his managers talked to employees? like that they would have to be dealt with. What?

Basically he says that people like me get power hungry when we get promoted even though I applied for and got the job because of prior management experience else where. The bottom line is he said that if I talked to his kids that way he would take me out side and deal with it!

How about, raising your kids to act like young men and women if they won't have any adult supervision!
How about respecting the fact that you need to know the whole situation before you pass judgement.
Or even better, don't think that because you are the customer, that you are my master and that I must follow you like a sheep. I'm an educated man who works hard and respects his job.
Too bad the customer treats people in the customer service sector like ass. Maybe if they showed some appreciation they might get treated a little better.

Wish I'd been there when that guy was going off. I would've cut him down a few notches.

These little brats need to learn to SHUT THE HELL UP in movie theaters .. turn OFF THE PHONES.

When customers are behaving nicely and relatively close to in-bounds ... of COURSE CSRs must treat them with respect.

When customers are acting like used douches ... game ON!

You know, the more I think about this, I am wondering if the customer had an issue with your race as well.

"People like you"?? What's that supposed to mean?

*Also, just a quick reminder - I edited your post a bit, because it was just one big block of text. For future reference, paragraphs and spacing make the posts easier to read.

"Lets not get your kids involved. How about we go outside and deal with it like you want.

Let me give you fair warning though. Two things will happen. First, the second you touch me, you will be making a trip to the hospital. Second, after you have recovered, you will be taking a trip to our fine county jail facility."

i find myself agreeing with Ree... it sounds like the guy didn't like you because of your race and you calling the kids out was just an excuse for him to be a dick towards you
... granted, not having been there to witness it I'm just speculating.
and kudos for not caving into him.

Not directly related to OP but reminded of it. I went to a live performance on Friday night (local dance festival thing) and the girl two seats to my right & one row in front of me was apparently a texting addict. Every time there was the least pause in the action, there's that frigging light.

One: bright light in dark theater = frigging distracting
Two: being underlit like that makes your face looking really creepy, even from this angle.

Hon, I know that these tickets were not expensive, but the performers are all locals and don't you think that maybe, just maybe, you should be courteous enough to, oh I don't know, pay attention?!

                And in Ikeas. Muahahahaha.

I've been pushing for them to extend the block to the cash lanes (apparently the block only goes as far as the self serve warehouse) but so far my request has fallen on deaf ears.

Why is this thread so into the kids and their phones? Even the adults are doing it now, talking away while a movie is playing. And never mind the cell phones. The last time I went to a movie was when "Casino Royale" was out, and this asshole and his heffer wife yakked the whole time to each other. "Hey, isn't that neat how they do that?" "Yeah, that Daniel Craig is something!" No matter how many "Shhhh"'s were given to this couple, they continued talking throughout the movie to each other.

Why don't these people go hang out at the local bookstore or music store?

I haven't seen many of the over-college crowd playing with cell phones/game-thingy whatever in the theater. But the talk through the movie crowd, that's been a problem for about a century.

You need to come here and go to the movies! I see it across all age groups.

I went to see "2 Fast 2 Furious" and these two little teeny-boppers sitting next to me were texting and giggling through the whole movie. What really torqued me was that they were texting each other!

This reminds me of a story of one of my teachers in college. She was a theater teacher and had worked REALLY hard to put on a performance of "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown"

Opening Night the ENTIRE crowd of college students that were there were baithed in blue light from their phones. and thankfully after intermission they all left cause they thought they had recieved credit for their required attendance of the performance (the teacher went ahead and made sure NO ONE who attended it the first night got credit for it for the class that had assigned it save for a few individuals cause they had to have their tickets signed by one of the door men)

She said she was so close to stopping the show in teh middle of it and starting the whole thing over cause of all of them.

Absolutely disgraceful IMO that those kids thought it was "appropriate" for them to do that and insult not only the teacher, but several friends of mine who were performing in the show.

While it is hugely irritating for me when people get on their phones in the theaters, my friend does keep his on vibrate when we see a show. Why? He's a police officer and one of only 13 in his department. If shit goes down at the college, and everyone gets called in, he needs to be able to respond because they already don't have many. Yes he does go out into the hallway to answer though. Because of stuff like this, I don't know that I agree with stuff like cell phone scramblers. That being said, I have to reiterate that people who use them inside the theater do drive me insane and brought about one of my few too angry to talk without yelling very loudly in front of everyone moods.
