  • Strike 3! You're Out

So I have a girl come in, the first thing out of her mouth is "Oh I was hoping it was someone who knew me, I don't have my ID." I tell her that since I don't know her, I can't sell cigarettes to her without ID.

She leaves and then a guy exits the car that she got into. He comes in also sans ID and then tries to show me his tattoo as proof that he is 18. Again I tell him exactly what I told his little friend No ID, No smokes.

He goes out and gets into the car when a third person exits the car. As he ambles up to the counter I tell him that if he doesn't have ID then not to bother asking for the smokes that they all seem to desperately want. He storms out and as he's getting into the car screams "Stupid bitch." He then peels off.

It's simple, if you are old enough to purchase cigarettes or alcohol, have your ID on you. If you are not don't bother.

Amazing how they all thought that you would suddenly change your mind about having an ID.

how does a tattoo prove age... his parents could have consented for it, couldn't they...?

What I think is hilarious is how multiple people try to buy cigarettes, and they all come out of the same car, which was usually conveniently parked RIGHT IN FRONT of the store where I could see. Yeah, way to use those brains!

Technically they could have, but, at least around here, even the cool parents who are OK with the idea say 'if you still want one when you turn 18, I'll drive you to the parlor, but I'm not signing for one.'

At least, that's the coolest of the common responses.

(Disclaimer: I have no desire to get a tattoo, nor do I believe parents are cool for letting their children do whatever they want, just not sure how else to phrase it.)

HEheheh, since you were watching them get in and out of the car, I'm gonna guess you could see the plate. No ID? driving without a license with is illegal. Call it in also if they squeeled the tires add a reckless driving to it too. the cops can come and see the fresh treads. I used to do stuff like that to the SC jerks.

Oh yeah, squealing your tires in the parking lot is a good way to demonstrate your maturity. I am SO tired of the "I obviously have tattoos so I'm obviously old enough!" spiel. On which planet is a tattoo a valid form of identification?

In my store, if you refuse the sale to one person for lack of ID (or invalid ID), you have to refuse the sale to every person they're with, whether they have ID or not.

i am constantly amazed at the amount of people that do not carry id or any other forms of identification on them- most of the time i get the excuse: oh it's in my car (they never come back in after leaving to "get" it), i get it returned to me from the state in a month (oooookkk), or that other girl that works here she sold it to me last week ya know the little skinny black girl (my imaginary employee i guess- i wish i had all the people i get told work in my store- imagine what i could accomplish)

My bad. They always thought they were sooo sneaky and I'd never put two and two together....or look out the damn window and see all of them in the car.

Maybe they thought they could intimidate you with the males? Or maybe they were just incredibly stupid??

I'm placing my money on incredibly stupid.

                              Do ya one better.

My business use to be in a strip mall.

An OUT OF STATE unmarked police cruiser was picking up small supplies for the city. Car was right in front of my store with the driver (cop) about to leave when a old ratty pickup entered the parking lot at a high rate of speed traveling to the deli across the parking lot.

                              Driver never made it.

The OUT OF STATE cop lit him up. Lights and Sirens.

                              Two local PD showed up.

Ticketed him AND towed the vehicle. (might have gotten him for DUI).

Yo, stupid, he might be out of state, but guess who the local cops are going to believe?
