  • We know it's a dollar.

It's not exactly something I get upset about, but I just don't see what's the point. You don't need to say "I want a McChicken sandwich off the dollar menu". Just say "I want a McChicken". We know it's a dollar. It's as if they think that if they don't mention it being on the dollar menu, for some unknown reason, they will be charged more.

    I wholeheartedly agree.

Now, at Wendy's, there ARE some items where I appreciate the distinction (for example, $.99 fries, drink, chicken, and double) but most of the time...there's only one place on the menu where you'll find "junior," emphasizing that THAT is $.99 is unnecessary.

It's very well known (if you ask SC's) that retail employees try to swindle anyone who comes into their line.

What got me was running lane at a big-box store and having people watch their items ring up like a hawk. "NO! That was supposed to be 20 cents cheaper!"

I just scanned it. I didn't type the price in. I'll be happy to take 20 cents off if you'll just calm down.
Excuse me, good sir paladin, can you direct me to your EVIL district?

This is funny, because just the other day I ordered one and they charged me over $4.
Apparently, they didn't realize I wanted the one on the dollar menu and not the deluxe <or whatever it's called>.

Since I've been in McDonald's that don't have the same Dollar Menu (or, in some cases, have a Dollar Menu at all), I sometimes verbally confirm that yes, the Double Cheeseburger is $0.99. I don't think that makes me sucky - just cautious when dealing with a franchise chain that doesn't enforce the same rules and pricing across the entire chain.

Ah, now that CAN happen. I don't know how Mcdonalds works, but at Wendy's just ordering "fries, a chicken sandwhich, a double, and a soda" will require some clarification...as those items exist both on the value menu and the regular one. If you give the cashier the name of the food as its printed on the menu, then that will make things a lot easier on everyone. It's really only when someone does that and adds "it's $.99" that it gets annoying.

Hmm....I really don't see a problem with the clarification on the customers part - mostly because when I used to eat fast food I had a cashier ring up the wrong sandwich. I ordered the chicken sandwich as it is named on the dollar menu (McChicken, I think)- but she rang up the deluxe - I then had to clarify.

I'm confused: in Australia, Wendy's is a chain of ice cream shops. Usually found in kiosk form in food courts.

In the US it's a burger chain known for its square burgers & chocolatey shake thing that you eat with a spoon called a Frosty. And for years, the owner, Dave Thomas did his own commercials. They are a big sponsor of foster kid and adoption programs, partly because Dave & his wife adopted kids, including the Wendy for whom the chain is named.

Yes, because everyone working in those positions gets paid SO MUCH that they actually CARE enough to try to make the company money...

Seriously, how much do these SCs think we get paid to try and scam them out of money???

It should also be noted that Dave Thomas was also known to be one of the genuinely "nice guys" of the corporate world. I think Wendy's as a whole has changed for the worse since he passed, much like Sam Walton and Wal-Mart. But that's opinion.

What gets me is when people come to me and say "Theres a coffee table over there I am interested in.."

Now since the names of the furniture are on the price tags, I ask "Do you know the name of the one?"

                            "The $149 one."

Well gee thanks, that could be like 4 of them. I know theres a couple of ways I could approach that question, but they never seem to work.

And then of course we do have the "those should be 48 cents" before I scan the item. Thanks for telling me whats on the price tag.

As an employee I have to agree...if only because of some of the boneheaded decisions that Wendy's has made in the time I've been there. There was an entire LINE of sandwiches that were actually halfway healthy (and delicious, I can't forget that). Sold like hotcakes...then without warning, "Oh hey we're not selling the frescata anymore." Guess how well THAT went over with customers.

Now, that's the most memorable decision that immediately springs to mind; he was already gone by the time I started working so I don't know how things changed after his demise. But I do agree things went downhill afterwards.

No arguments here...though let me recommend avoiding the new shakes that will be coming out soon. Bearing in mind that I've only tried the strawberry...if you want a real milkshake, hit Carl's Jr. or Jack in the Box or something like that, and just stick with the classic frosty at Wendy's.
