I just got a job at a call center and am still training.

Today was my first day on the phones. A bit of a road bump here and there, but nothing serious, and most of the customers are fine.

Though, there was one I found noteworthy.

Me: yo
SC: Lady who seriously called the wrong number.
T: My trainer.

Me: Hello, thank you for calling Company X, how can I help you?
SC: Hi, I have kind of a strange question for you. Do you have the number for Company Y?
Me & T:
Me: Um, no, I don't have the number for that company...
SC: Do you even know what that company is?
Me: No ma'am.
SC: Okay, well have a nice day!
Me: Have a nice day.

So, I hang up and turn to T

Me: ...Did she think this was the number for 411?
T: ...I don't know...

Now... she didn't seem surprised at all that I didn't know the info for the other company, and yet she called to ask anyway... I don't get it...

Oh I've done things like that, heck, why not ask, I might get lucky and save the time of making a call to 411, especially ifn the mistake is common.
