  • Man was I sucky -_-

So I was starving. We don't do hot food like our rivals, so after work I stopped by the local 7-11. Got some nachos, chips, candy. Asked for hot dog, She told me it be a second. So I wait. and wait. She has a pretty long line, but I can be patient.

Some little old lady asked for a hoy dog.

So what does the clerk do? Instead of, you know, getting me a hot dog that I PAID for, and have been waiting for 6 mintutes for, as the clerk was waiting on people at hyperspeed, she gets the hot dog for the lady. My mind hurt. I walked out pissed off. That I remembered how hungry I was. So I walked back in. She asked me what was wrong. I asked what the hell was the deal with me waiting, but someone else wants a hot dog she gets it right away?
She said she was sorry and she forgot ( Personally, I have never seen a clerk ask someone to wait for a hot dog, but at the second, I thought it MIGht not have been cooked fully or something). I just asked for my money back. Use it and some more for my own hot dogs at fred meyers. I got alot more for my buck, but still I got adnormally pissed off at the clerk. I was ranting in my head for hours. I think tomorrow I need to go an apogly.

I'm not sure I would. She's probably happily forgotten about it already and doesn't want to be reminded.

Just be sure to be extra nice NEXT time.

I don't always forget incidents like that very easily. I try, but I'm pretty hard on myself when it comes to mistakes. And I hate the thought of someone being angry with me due to a misunderstanding.

I'll bet that girl would very much appreciate an apology. I think its a wonderful idea, Plaidman.

It's easy to be sucky when you're starving.

I'd apologise, if nothing more than to clear your conscience. If she's forgotten about it, you might just cheer up her day. Who knows?

            I had something similar happen.
You know when the mall has those weekends when there are booths up for local/independent sellers, like baseball cars, crafts.
I used to collect action figures and there was one guy that would have a booth up during those weekend deals. He always had stuff I wanted.
So I pulled out three figures and gave them to the guy to ring them up. I talked to my husband while I waited.

Couple seconds go by and I ask if he is ready. He says yupe, gives me a total and the bag. I notice there are only 2 figures, I'm WTF.
He said while I was waiting someone wanted one of the figures I picked out. So he sold it to her. I asked why and he said "I know you will come back for it, that other lady might not". I was almost speechless. I told him "while I was waiting?? I was waiting for you to get me a total. I wasn't just standing around browsing. I was super pissed.

I had to wait then for the next weekend and drive about an 45 mins to the next mall where he was setup then.
I got into a car accident on the way so I totally blame the sales guy.
So I ended up getting that figure through someone else

Wow, I'm surprised you tried to get it through him a second time. I might have agreed to let him sell the figure to another person and come back later, if he had asked, but if he had up and sold something he knew perfectly well I was trying to buy out from under me, I never would have gone there again.

At the time he was the only person I knew that I could get that rare figure I wanted. This was way before ebay.
So I did go back to him to get that final figure but never bought from him again after that.
Then Ebay - whee, talk about spending spree.

i agree, you were a bit sucky, but in this case it was probably justified and you shouldn't go out of your way to apologize.

second story, WTF... I can't even think of a response to someone intentionally selling something out from under you

i personally had my own kinda sucky moment last night, I pulled into chevron (they do a discount on car washes when you buy gas which makes the extra cost of the gas worth it). I pull up to the pump, insert my card and nothing hapens. The attendent used the intercom to apologize that the pump wasn't working please move to another one... at this point I'm slightly irritated that they didn't put up an out of order sign or anything like that (this way right after a bad shift at work), so I went to another pump tried my card it declines and I press the call attendant button and he say "sorry, I kinda knew that this would happen, most of the time when you try at one pump and move to another it won't authorize unless you come into the store and do it manually" I was like, what the hell, you knew that I was going to have to come in to get the card done and you waited until after I've already waited for the card to run before telling me, I told him there was no way in hell that I was now also going into the store and running the card manually (which is a higher risk of fraud than running it at the pump... basically he wanted me to preauthorize the card and then do it as a pump and pay and then have him charge the amount to the card... umm, I don't trust you that much) when you told me that all I had to do was change pumps despite the fact you knew that it wouldn't actually work, I'll just go down the street to Conoco, their pumps normally work and their employees don't dick around with you... and drove off.

Slice, have you ever worked in a convenience store? I used to get line-ups of 20 people or so, and rushes that would last an hour. Yes, it was a bit silly of her not to get the hot dog right that second, but it wasn't necessarily stupid of her to forget it. Especially when you've had a late night (cranky baby, loud neighbors, just general insomnia), things can slip from your mind very quickly. It was a simple mistake. If you're serving half a dozen customers, then your mind is not on the one guy who's just standing there aimlessly.

I'm sorry, what? Forgetting stuff makes you stupid? Since when?
Occasionally forgetting things is just part of our nature as human beings. Everyone does it and so long as in situations like the OP you (in this case "you" being the clerk) apologize it's not all that big of a deal.

I was at a Wendy's once and ordered a cheeseburger (single patty with some veggies) and a small order of fries. It wasn't *that* busy when I was there, maybe two or three people in line. I waited for 10 minutes. I walked out after the guy that was BEHIND me in line got his DOUBLE cheeseburger. Unfortunately I was on my lunch break and therefore couldn't stay and bitch at them like I would've preferred.
