    Problem posting?

    I keep getting this message: Any idea what it means?

    Yup - the good old 500 error. It's the server security. Have a look through your post and see if there is anything that looks like it could be a Linux command - usually things with slashes in them. If you can't work it out, feel free to email me - I'm rapscallion attie blueyonder, which is a dottie co and a dottie uk.

      Thanks Raps, that was just the problem! it didn't like when I put a slash between Cd and MP3 so I edited the post and it posted just fine.

      I saved your addy just in case something goes wrong again. I'm currently using a Ubuntu version as a beta test so I'll be sure to make a note of any other instances.

          We had the same problem on Fratching recently. In this case, the culprit was the word "stalk", followed by a slash, followed by the word "kill." The member in question emailed the post to me, and I posted it in pieces until I found the cause.

            I've noticed I'm also having a problem using the Quick Post option, but I think it may just be my browser. (Firefox 3.0b5) Another forum with this set up (pretty much the same but geared to a certain card game brand) is no problem. I'm thinking it's an update problem with my browser? (Would like to blame it as a problem between chair and keyboard and not the site)

            Raps, Linux has been the most user friendly operating system I've ever used. Very odd considering it's supposedly not user friendly!

              EQ, I think you're slightly confused. It's not the fact that you're using linux that did it. Anyone posting that from any operating system would have gotten the same thing. It's the server side that's important.

              However, if possible, we should try and put together a list of the known problem phrases, as this issue does crop up from time to time, and it'd be a handy quick-reference.

              The quick post thing might be solved after the update Raps has planned. Give us a heads up on that one please

                      Well, it's the slash that makes it think that, right? so just say "These words combined with a slash" rather than going /word.

                          I've added a sticky thread here, so we can add any problematic words and phrases. We just have to list them in a way that the software will allow them to be posted.

                            It seems to down right hate the slash whenever I try to post one (I've been playing around, sorry).

                            ^^ This seems to work. Put the problem key (like the slash in the above example) in bold and post that?
