  • Where is my napkins?

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster...

I work at a pizza place (one of the big 3) and for the last year or so, we have been having a promotion on a very cheap large pizza for carryout.

Our transactions have doubled, and with that, certain complimentary goods go faster than we expect sometimes.

Today my cashier walked to me and asked if we had napkins in the back storage. We looked, and realized that we had run out. He went back up and told the lady that he was sorry, but we were temporarly out of napkins.

You would have thought that we killed her first born child...

The lady goes off the ropes and immediately demands that we send someone to the grocery store (which is at the end of our strip) and buy her some napkins or we could refund her money and she wouldnt take the pizzas that we just made.

I don't know if I was in the wrong on this one, but the tone and stance she took when saying that hit a nerve in me. I calmly walked over to the register, did a No-Sale, and handed back her $12.96 and told her that We were sorry and to have a good day.

was pretty much her reaction and then informed us that shes in customer service... blah blah blah, not telling us how to do our job, but... blah blah blah, I'm the customer... blah blah blah etc. Personally, I think she was shocked that I eagerly refunded her money to her despite the pizzas being made.

For my triumph though, before she walked out (she was fiddling with her purse) I sold her pizzas to the next customer in line

I think the thing that struck me was she was trying to hold me for ransom. Yeah it sucks we ran out of napkins, we try not to do that, but as a take-out store, I always thought of it as a complimentary commodity. I guess others think different...

So was I in the wrong, or justified?

You gave her what she asked for. As long as you were polite about it, I don't see a problem.

You called her bluff. She loses. Plain and simple.

And, obviously the person in line behind her thought it was fine.

Ha ha! Perfect polite pwnage~! She thought she was going to bitch, moan, whine and vent and you'd sit there and take it. She was wrong.

I don't see how you could be in the wrong. That really has to be something wonky about a person who would make such a big deal about not getting a napkin. Really, life goes on.

If it were a sit down restaurant or a fast food place I can see being upset that there are no napkins. But at a takeout place? Where you'll most likely go home and eat? Right...

Normally when I get napkins from a take out place I'll get like 2, which always does so much

              Ask, and you shall receive.

I can't possibly find anything wrong in what you did.

And I would have done the same thing as the next guy in line, as long as the pizza was to my taste. It might not have been what I would have ordered in the first place, but hey, no having to wait !

                  Welcome to the board!!!

Double pwnage on the fact that you sold her pizzas to the next person while she was still there.

I hate those who are in customer service and throw that around as if it has some clout!
