  • what the hell do you WANT?! (long, mild language)

So I was having a good day until about half an hour before close. A resident comes in, wants the manager, who is on vacation. I can smell the liquor on the guy, but maybe he wants something quick and I can get him out of there. Of course not! He proceeds to tell me that "a few weeks ago" he had pest control in, but, because he got called out to work, he gave the office permission to enter. For those who don't know, when you give permission to enter, that includes members of staff and VENDORS doing work that you requested. SOP is to give the vendor the keys to your place, they let themselves in, do whatever they need to, and get out. This guy says that he gave permission to the OFFICE not the vendor and that the exterminator stole $110 off his counter. When I told him that when he gave PTE it was to the vendor and that vendors are not escorted unless specifically requested, he said "I just don't see it like that." Well, it doesn't really matter how you see it, that's the way it is done at every property I have ever worked at in the 5 odd years I've been doing this. Okay, so he is going on and on and ON about how the manager shrugged him off with "what do you want me to do about it", and the exterminators shrugged HER off with "what do you want us to do about it". Well, I hated (not really) to tell him this but what the hell was I supposed to do about it? I don't even work for the management company! So he wants to talk to someone higher up, which would be the supervisor, whose cell phone number I flat refused to give out. He asked me to call her, which I did warning him that she was off the clock, likely would not answer, and would be out of town until Monday. He goes ballistic at hearing this, and demands I make the call and leave her his number, which I do. He also wants the main number and address of the head office, which can be found in any phone book, so I give him that info as well. FINALLY he leaves, and I call the manager, just to give her a heads up and find out that the reason he is not satisfied is because....get ready for this...

HE NEVER TOLD ANYBODY WHAT HE WANTS!

The manager and exterminators weren't shrugging him off they were legitimately asking what he wanted! Did he want his money reimbursed? Did he want the exterminator fired? Did he want Michael Bolton's head on a spike, a tallboy, and the entire cast of West Wing naked in the back of a '65 camaro? WE DON'T KNOW!

All this ass had to do back when this actually happened was write a friggin' letter detailing the incident, that letter would be submitted to the vendor, who would likely PAY HIM BACK because they are a big company who don't want a major shitstorm over $110 measly dollars!

    GAAAAAAAAH!

The manager ended our conversation with "shrug it off and if he shows up wasted again, kick him out." I don't know if she meant the kicking part literally, but I may have to just interpret it that way for my own amusement.

I would literally kick him. Then when said manager asks the question, I'll simply tell him it's what he told me to do.
