... and a few less SCs who think that petrol stations exist on the honour system. I know, wrong ending to that quote (cookies for anyone who furnishes the real ending) but I just couldn't resist. XD

This woman came charging into the petrol station after she filled up her tank to rant, "I can't believe this! You're charging me far too much; you're stealing my money!" She'd filled up with diesel which is more expensive than unleaded petrol at the moment; I tried to explain this to her but obviously, since I don't speak idiotese, it was too complicated for her to understand.

"I'm going to go right back out there and drive off, and you can't stop me!" she raved. My collegue then pointed out to her that there are cameras out there, and the customer was actually surprised to hear that. "You can't have cameras out there, I can't see any!" Er, that's why they're called HIDDEN CAMERAS. In the end, realising that we could and would hand the tapes over to the police and she'd get done for stealing, the SC paid up and left, swearing never to return.

I would put money on seeing her next week...

Do y'all have cars that take unleaded or diesel? We had a problem here a while back where diesel got put into the unleaded storage tanks at several gas stations around town. The people that filled up didn't get very far and the company that did it wound up paying to fix a lot of engines.

Yup; it's either or and if you put diesel into your unleaded tank, you're basically screwed and the tank needs to be emptied completely. Luckily, *touches every bit of wood within reach* we haven't had that happen, or a ditz putting the wrong petrol into their tank, yet.

That can't happen here....the nozzles for unleaded and diesel are different. Diesel nozzle won't fit an unleaded fill tube and vice versa. Plus, the pumps are separate. Got unleaded and premium unleaded on one and diesel's on its own. The only problem is when the gas company fills up the tankers with the wrong fuel. They still haven't figured out how it happened.

I bet that somewhere out there, there's an idiot who's going to be able to get around that rule. O_o

Now a comment on the SC maybe? XD

Well, either the idiot is brazening it out, s/he quit, or committed sepuku before the karma cops catch up.....

We had a gas company put Jet-A into an unleaded tank once near Hinton... F'ckd up almost a hundred cars and sicken'd a whole bunch of people. The gas company denied everything... until discovery papers were filled in court. Every one of the plaintiffs received an out-of-court settlement. I wonder why?

The differing nozzles haven't stopped at least a couple of morons at my friends workplace. One of them was the bosses son! Can you spell embarrassed? I can! (With the help of the spell checker...)

Around here, diesel is cheaper than unleaded petrol.

But yeah, I wonder how she left because, if I'm not mistaken, putting diesel in a petrol motor is a major screw up. If you don't try to start your engine, you can get away with simply having your tank drained and cleaned, which is already a pain in the butt in itself. But if you do try to start the engine, it will not take it too kindly, and this can cause some serious damage.

But I hear that putting petrol in a diesel motor isn't as bad. The best practice is still to draind and clean the tank, but some say that adding some oil to the petrol works pretty fine. I also heard that adding a few liters of petrol in your diesel tank makes it easier for your engine to start during the winter.

Anybody knows if any of this is true ?

(EDIT : and the original ending of the quote would be "... and a few less fat bastards eating all the pie". Or so Google says.)

As for the woman, I'd have gotten her license plate number and let her drive off. Table-scrap pilfering grabasses like that need to be whacked upside the head with a clue-by-four...or a policeman's truncheon.

                  Either suites me.

                    Believe me, it was tempting.

By the way, there seems to be some confusion... she didn't put diesel into an unleaded car; she just assumed that both types of petrol were exactly the same price, tho how she missed the giant sign proclaiming the opposite right outside I don't know. -.- Selective blindness?

I'm torn between "Gah, it's almost worse" and "Oh, it's just your typical 'SC can't read sign' case".

First, a comment on the SC.

                        Duh!

C'mon lady there are signs everywhere! Did she even offer to pay for what regular would have been for the same amount of fuel? Not that it's any better, but at least you're not saying "Hey, I'm going to steal"

Tell her she should come to the states. $4.00 for regular, $4.80 for diesel.

And for the other: Former owner of my company filled two tanks with diesel, then paid well over what the truck was worth to fix it.

And former coworker, drunk, driving friends car, couldn't figure out why the nozzle didn't fit, somehow managed to get it home though.

She probably paid more than that for it.

Aaaaaaahhhhhhh...... yes. Reminds me of the good ol' days when your choices were "Regular" and "Regular unleaded" and diesel was for filling up your tractor. The nozzles were different sizes then too. I don't know how many catalytic converters died horrible deaths before people figured out that regular clogs it up. Ahhhhhh...yes the dog days summer and mowing lawns. /reminiscence

oh uh what?..... Oh yes, definitely a sucky customer.
