One way streets are just that, one way. So imagine if you will a carrier just doing her job and comes to the spot where she has to cross the street and walk back up. Since the street she is crossing is only a one way the carrier doesn't look the other way. Problem on the carriers part, no?

So just as the carrier is almost on the sidewalk all of a sudden the carrier remembers something happening. Just...something...and why was she looking at the sky now? All of a sudden there is the cry of sirens and everything seems to have stopped. Slowly starting to get up the carrier feels...weird.

A guy appears and is screaming about how the carrier should have watched where they are going. How they are going to sue the carrier for damaging their car. And how the officer should arrest the carrier right now...wait why is the driver being arrested?

A off duty EMT is helping the carrier who is now standing and looking confused at everyone, trying to get her to sit back down again. But the carrier just noticed that the mail she had in her hand is now scattered on the road and before she can get too many pieces she is pushed back on the car and she is told to stay there.

Boss appears not to long after with a ptf in tow to take over the route and send the carrier to the hospital. Words are getting exchanged and the carrier still can't figure it all out. What exactly had happened that is making her hand over her truck keys, the arrow lock keys, and the mail that she had on her.

So now several hours later and with a massive bruise forming with nothing broken and just being sore right now...the carrier, me, is home and laying on her bed and snacking on bread sticks of which I shouldn't have.

The guy as far as I know got a ticket and might face some time elsewhere but I dunno. I mean he turned the wrong way on a one way street, struck a pedestrian who happened to be a federal employee, and was rude. Just hopefully I can go 'Down Under' clean from bruises and clean from anything happening.

    So yea...how was your days?

Yay for not breaking anything, but that was a major suck on the driver's part. I love our local carriers. They're sweethearts. Heal quickly!

Yesterday, I witnessed someone on a one way street overshoot thier turn, and make a U-turn, onto the SIDEWALK and drove back down said sidewalk to thier destination......
      - They say nothing good happens at 2AM, they're right, I happen at 2AM.

Wow. Glad youre ok but Im so sorry to hear that, Get well soon!

Please keep us updated on what happens...

I love when SD's (sucky drivers) try to blame you for their accidents.

Dh and I were making a turn and a car in the opposing lane was turning where we were, so they stopped and let us go. As we're turning, this crotch rocket comes from around the back of the stopped car and runs right into the passenger side door where I was sittiing. There were goldfish crackers all over the car, as I had been muching on them when he hit us. He gets us and is SCREAMING at us , that we fucked up his bike and we're getting sued blah blah blah. The look on his face was priceless when he ended up with the ticket and told that we could sue him for damages if we felt like it. We didnt, but it shut him the hell up real quick.

Hoo boy, insurance company is going to have a field day. Warm wishes as you heal, hopefully very quickly. Take it easy and I hope your workplace supports your healing and health all the way. And twerp wondered why he was getting arrested

I am so sorry, but glad to hear that the damage is not worse. Take the time you need to heal. Get a doctor to sign for it. Pushing yourself back to soon could make you feel worse. And get physical therapy if you need it.

There are two one way streets in my area that I see people droving the wrong way down disturbingly frequently. There are lot's of kids in the area too. I haven't yet been fast enough on the draw to get a picture with my camera phone that showed the license plate, or you bet I'd be turning them into the cops.

And this, my friends, is a good example of why it is good to look both ways when about to cross the street, even if it IS a one way.

I echo Becky - always always always look. It doesn't matter what ways the street runs. Look both of them. Hope you heal up soon. Does sound like you had a little head bump if you literally don't remember getting hit. Hope it's okay.

Where I live, straight through traffic gets the right of way, so you'd have been in the wrong. I actually can't fathom anywhere where turning traffic has the right over a "crotch rocket" going straight, but maybe you just didn't explain it very clearly. Obviously if he was told you could sue him you were in the right, but it sounds strange to me.

The way I'm reading it One-Fang, the crotch rocket was behind the other car and didn't feel like waiting. So if it was a single lane for instance, they totally would have been in the wrong.

Ah yes. Sorry, I assumed the term referred to a bicycle for some reason. Don't quite know why.

                            Thank you.

So happy that you didn't break anything. I have learned something:

I will cease feeling weird when I turn my heads both ways as I cross a one-way.
