  • Cruise Ship Nastiness...

Well, long time, no talk. I think I last posted here right before I went to go work for a certain cruise line.
Anyhow, I am done with that lifestyle for now...2 years did it for me, and it wasn't the work per se, more or less management...but that's another thread.

This particular SC sticks out because of his anti-American behavior, yet, he is an American!

This happened when I was working the overnight shift, (I was a receptionist) which, while you are alone, and have no backup, can be somewhat relaxing compared to the daytime crap.

this took place at about 2:30am

Me: doing my overnight duties, tasks
SC: walking down stairs with tray of food from late night restaurant.
Me: looked up, smiled, said "good evening" went back to my business.
SC: Drops tray, and other things of tray, kicks food all over my friends nice, freshly mopped floor.

*Please note, floor was no longer wet, it just really smelled pretty*

Me: I look up, and instinctively ask if he had slipped.
SC: Comes at me full force, and says "This place is a mess, big suprise.are you going to get anyone to clean up that mess.?"
    Me: Excuse me?
SC: well, you're sitting there behind the desk doing nothing, why don't you call someone?
    Me: I am sir.
SC: " don't be condescending with me. get off your lazy, worthless American ass, and do something.!"
    Me: Sir, I'm calling housekeeping
SC: "what? you're above cleaning it yourself?
Me: no sir, but HK likes to be infor...*interrupted by moron SC*
SC: All you Americans are alike! I don't know why they would have a ship with nothing but Americans. All you guys do is complain, and get someone else to do your work. I have been on other ships, and when I make a mess on purpose, and I tell the cleaning boy to clean it, he apologizes immediately, bows his head and does his job. They don't dare look me in the eye!"
Me: Continued to look him in the eye, and told him we would get it taken care of right away.

The HK supervisor came by and saw/heard the commotion, and started cleaning it himself, and the whole time, this guy sat there and berated us, and calling us "stupid Americans" He was from Minnesota, and had a very American sounding last name, but I could be wrong. I called Security, but he left before they had gotten there.

He was one of the nicer ones though.

I was also called the "c" word because this woman had left a piece of luggage at the airport back home and expected us to call and get it forwarded to where we were that same day!!!
She admitted that she made the mistake, but stated that it was our responsibilty since she was our guest.

Obviously, he prefers staff to be slaves. Meals are probably included, but it's too bad you couldn't charge him an a**hole tax.

Omg, no one was around to defend you? I've been on cruises and have seen a few SC's get into huge trouble with ship security.
Good for you for not losing it on his lame ass.

What an asshole! Too bad he got away before security got there....to at least give him the Very Important Prick treatment.

I'm inclined to believe he did it on purpose, as the OP stated after he dropped everything he started kicking it around on the floor.

How mature. I wonder if back home in Minnesota, he drops stuff and kicks it around and mashes it into the carpet and makes his wife clean it up, and "Don't she dare look me in the eye!"

And then he tells her to go make him some hotdish and throws that on the floor.

If some fucktard ever came at me like that bashing Americans I'd kick him in the nuts so hard he'd need a wheelbarrel to carry them with him the next day.
