So I was dealing to a full table, and I get to an older gentleman he has 14 and waves off his hand, so I move on to the next lady, she waves off her hand and I go to the person beside her and she gives me the signal to hit, before I manage to pull a card the older gentleman changes his mind and wants to hit. I explain that by now it's too late, as the person next to him has already given the signal. This is our procedure, if the woman beside him hadn't given her signal I could just go back, but I was two away from him already. He has no problem with this, and overall he's a great player, but apparenly the woman beside him has a huge problem with this after I pull the card for the next player.
Conversation is something like this:
SW: Hey, why don't you call Pit for that?
Me: because there is no need to, I've explained the situation already
*a pit boss comes over when they hear her voice raising*
SW: *to the boss* Does she have the authority to do that?
Boss: Yes, if the next person, in this case, you had already given your signal then we can't go back if someone changes their mind, even if no card is pulled yet. That card is then the next persons card if they chose to hit. The dealers know this is the procedure, so they don't need to call us for it.
SW: Well I don't agree with that, I think it's so wrong.
Boss: You are free to think that, but it is our procedure.
SW: grumbles
I finish the hand and she takes off, with what had to be a 20 stack of red chips
