So I was in a computer store just about thirty minutes ago to buy more memory for my wife's laptop when a woman who came in after me with an old laptop asked this of one of the techs:

"Hi. This thing here doesn't have that thingy that, ya know, does that thing when it connects to the, ya know, other thing; so I need to see if you have that, ya know, thingy or the, ya know, new type of thing that doesn't need it that can fit in the thing to, ya know, do it."

The tech had the most wtf look.

I had to write down what she said right then.

Sometimes I enjoy customers like that. When they're nice and when they realize that what they just said makes no sense whatsoever. And I would have loved to see the look on the tech's face, if only to know what I look like when I get the same kind of question.

I get this in the store from time to time. Why sure, we have that thing, yes we do!

And then I hand them a pack of toilet paper or some light bulbs a package of Depends or something.

Reminds me of a tech support call where I was trying to talk someone through reseating their memory. I went from a very specific description all the way down to thingy and do-dad. When I got to thingy and do-dad they finally said "Oh that! I've been looking at that this whole time!"
The call went 30 minutes past my quitting time.
