    if this one doesnt sicken you, there is something wrong with you

    Guest: Dave, I am furious. I have been calling here all week trying to preparations for my stay next week. Your wothless concierge wont return my calls and I cant get my questions answered by anyone there. They want to give me phone numbers to all these places. I am turning to you people for some guidance, not just a phone number.

    Me: well our concierge is in the hospital

    Guest: so? Does that mean the whole world has to come to a halt? what about your customer's needs? Can I have the phone number to the hospital so I can call her there?

    Me: absolutely not

    Guest: I am coming next week and I need help so I can prepare a schedule for our stay and I am way behind but I guess I will just have to tough it out. Is there a manager I can talk to?

    Me: sure, one moment

    Guest: you're not very sympathetic, you know. I think you should know that.

          It is horrific that this "guest" had the unabashed gall to even mention the thought of contacting a person in the hospital.

                He would probably consider it the worst thing in the world that ever happened to him, but he's the customer, damnit! Plus, everyone knows that all service industry workers love to be treated like shit. Why else would they not get a better job?

                  This doesn't sicken or surprise me.

                  If there's one thing I've learned from this site, it's that there are people out there who are as self-centered as the guest in this post, and unfortunately they don't get hit by speeding buses or die in fires, so we have to deal with them.

                    I can imagine him calling every single hospital asking for her, then bitch her out because she coughed in the phone.

                    I would be a little more sympathetic if he said, "ok, if the conciege is in the hospital, is there someone who can help me?" but what a jerk.

                        Someone to hold his hand and plan his trip for him, book things like boat rentals and get him theatre tickets, dinner reservations. Things competent adults can do for themselves but are too lazy to do some times or are to Entitlement whores and force other people to do because they are too stupid to figure out how to do for themselves.

                          sicken, yes; surprise, no. given the mentality of far too many these days, there isn't much that does surprise me, but i leave it to the hordes to reach the next level soon.

                            but in all likelihood they would be calling in again after their vacation or during it to
