Today we had a high school group on campus for a tour. Normally these are hit and miss, as students who are away from their parents act differently when they are around their buddies on a tour... some may really care about attending, some are here for a free trip.
I *HAD* a good feeling about today's group despite a tepid response to my presentation... that was until I saw the stack of contact sheets (we collect these from students so we can mail them info).
It was dumb luck that this one was right on top... under "expected enrollment date" this student decided to write "f**k no."
I saw it and first thought nothing of it, assuming that the student just wrote "Mickey Mouse" or something for his name.
Nope!
Instead, he put his full name, his address, phone... everything...
That pushed me over the edge, so I went back into the room, stopped the tour guides and called the little punk out in front of his friends - I called out the name and asked who it was. He raised his hand and that's when I lost it...
I asked why he put this on my forms (angrily) and his smug expression quickly turned into fear as I knocked him down a few pegs in front of his friends. I said that I don't think he needs to go on tour - stopped myself and said that he WILL NOT be going on tour and asked the teachers if there was a place they could put him. The one teacher emphatically said yes (and seemed to be as pissed as me) and all the time he is stuttering and epically failing at forming a complete sentence, trying to come up with excuses and etc... so I said that he is not going on tour, he is not going to waste my time or my tour guides' time.
I left the room after telling the rest of the group to not waste our time, and the last I saw of the guy was he was being escorted out by a teacher who was giving him an earful.
A very satisfying moment... and Mr. Joe Cool wont be so cool anymore.
