  • This is NOT Craigs List Tech Support!!

    Among many MANY things that spun our Customer Service Lead into a near apoplectic rage this morning (he was opening alone and with no one in Copy Center), was this phone call that came in. I didn't take the call, but here's the gist of it.

    SC calls in. Cashier picks up. A moment later, she pages for CSL to pick up the line. CSL is busy trying to help a customer in Copy Center.

    CSL: Ellen, what is it?

    Ellen: I don't know. He asked for a manager straightaway.

    CSL: *facepalm* Hello, this is Peter, how can I help you?.........I'm the Manager on Duty............the General Manager won't be in until noon. Is there something i can help you with?..............I'm sorry, could you say that again?............um,. we don't provide support for websites.

    Me:

    CSL: I'm sorry sir, but I don't know that. I don't visit that site. I'm sure that...............Well, I'm sorry about that sir.........

    At this point I had to stop listening because i had a customer, but a minute later i heard Peter slam the phone down so hard I thought he'd cracked the housing.

    I few minutes later I asked him what was up with that call.

    Well, apparently it was one of our regular assholes (a guy who I apparently haven't had to deal with yet), calling in and demanding to speak to the GM.....

    .....so he could ask how to respond to a listing on CRAIG'S LIST!!!!!

    That's right, he called Staples and wanted to ask our GM how to use Craig's List.

    I simply can not understand the reasoning that led to this idea.

    And it gets better!

    After Peter told him we don't provide support for third-party sites (hell, we dont' even provide in-store support for our OWN wesbite!), the guy says "That's a simple question. Are you too stupid to be able to answer it?" then started yelling and screaming at Peter.

    Man, he was LIVID, and said to me "MARK MY WORDS!!!! IF HE COMES IN HERE BEFORE PROFESSOR X COMES IN, I'M KICKING HIM OUT OF THE STORE!!!!!! MARK MY WORDS!!!!!

    I told him if he called back, let me talk to him and I'll gladly shut him the hell down. But alas, he didn't call back, nor did he come in (at least as of when I went off-shift).

    Seriously, what a freaking douchenozzle.

        I've heard of strange requests made over the phone, but that was beyond anything I could imagine . . .

        I guess the Internet is everywhere now (or at least according to Bill Kurtis in those new AT&T commercials.) I just didn't realize it had expanded to the caveman dwellings as well.
