  • LIMITED SERVICE - Get the concept!

Okay, this really aggravates me, so lucky you, I am gonna bitch about it here!!

I work for a limited service hotel chain. Basically this means "a hotel without a restaurant."

I really wish that people would realize this and stopping bitching constantly about our breakfast offerings.

Basically, people want full service for a limited service price. You want a full breakfast ? Go to a restaurant or a full service hotel! Oh, and don't you think that if we had a restaurant we would advertise it? HELLLLLLLO?

"WAHHHHHHH, Why don't you have hot eggs and breakfast meat? WaAHHHHHHH."

Of course they don't realize that this would require more staff, permits, and different facilities. Idiots.

People also bitch constantly about the shampoo we offer, and the fact that we don't have conditioner. I personally have never stayed at a hotel with good shampoo and/or conditioner, but this problem is easily solved. I BRING MY OWN. Then again, I usually stay at limited service hotels, so I don't expect them to have high quality shampoo and conditioner, nor do i want to pay more for those things.

Oh, and of course, the people who want all these things are the same people who want the ridiculously low rates.

I am so sick of (most) people.

I know what you mean... I get two different extremes... the people who are so surprised that a limited service hotel would have so much... or the people who bitch that we are limited service (seriously... I might as well tell you all were I work... I think I've narrowed down where I work to like only 4 places )

most people though shut up when I point out that the hotel down the street that has a full breakfast buffet costs $30 a night more and the full service hotels are also $30 a night more...

You are lucky that they don't say "Well, then go down to that hotel, and get me what I want or I will complain to your manager"!!!

They do pay our paychecks, you know. And the customer is always right!

people who bitch that we are limited service
makes you wonder about their sanity.

"Oh let's use this limited service hotel.... and then complain that it's limited service."

Like going to a bookstore and complaining that they don't sell lobster dinners.

i always want to tell these douchenozzles to consider the added expense that we would incur by having to hire more employees, get different permits, add the proper cooking facilities, etc etc, because you know that these are the same people who freak out and say "I WANT THE SAME RATE I PAID LAST YEAR!" (or six years ago...)

I will never understand the hagglers. Try that at a gas station, a restaurant, or any place of business and see how far it gets ya!

It especially pisses me off when businesses do this. Do you really expect me to believe that you haven't raised your prices?

As someone who has only ever stayed at motels that are just expensive enough not to be skeezy I thought "WooHoo!" when the boss put me up in the Skanky Heiress Hotel in Chicago. After the trip all I thought was "What a rip-off" There was nothing special about the room and the food and services were all super expensive, such as U$3.00 for a Coke Zero.

Somehow they got away with this, even with several fast food joints, good restaurants and convince stores an easy walk away.

It just doesn't add up. I figure that if you are paying extra for the room there should be lots of goodies included.

Of course I didn't bitch because the boss was paying for it.

For a lot of people, it's because they've seen stories on the news about it. The news stations have actually tried on a couple I've seen, in their 'saving money' type clips, them telling people to try to haggle prices down.

              Others, they're just spoiled morons.

I never ever use the shampoo or products provided by the hotel....

well if i need to hand wash something and dry it for the next day I will but I wouldnt use them on me!

Sheesh if breakfast is so important why dont they ASK when they make the reservation!

K and I wont stay in a hotel that doesnt have room service or a breakfast included, because I am NOT a morning person and hate hate hate having to search for a place for breakfast when Im hungry and need coffee.

We havent ever had a problem and you know why, we check BEFORE we book....

Hi Alogram. I appreciate your avy, but it has gotten me a few funny looks when people walk by and see it on my screen. "I swear this site is SFW!"

What you are asking is for SCs to read. When I need to stay somewhere and I am choosing the hotel, I read ahead and find what is offered and what is available, but then I still plan for those thing to not be available and have a back up handy. That way I don't have to accuse the staff of ruining my vacation.
I feel crazy. Like I'm drunk and trapped in a water globe and someone won't stop shaking it.

                      OK, changed it.

Not only to they not READ, but they don't LISTEN either. It drives me crazy. When they call in, it very clearly states "Thank you for calling hotel", and it amazes me how many will then say "Is this hotel?"

Or you tell them what time breakfast is served, and then they bitch that no one told them, when I specifically remember telling them.

I've been in different hotels ranging from "you might get a donut from the gas station in the morning" to "we have room service, two restaurants in-hotel, and 20 restaurants within visible distance of the door (and across the street or on our street".

Former costs from $30-120/night; latter $250-400/night (I didn't pay for it, another group did). All I could say was the expensive room was a rip-off. Yeah, you had room service if you wanted to drop up to $50, same for the hotel and morning stuff. Extras in the room? A pillow and blanket in the closet, and stone/fake stone in the bathroom with the same old-hotel-looking shampoos stuff and sand-paper toilet paper.
