  • Block Sites

Guys I have a very unusual request, very unusual.

I am trying to pay off all my debt and to do that I want to move to a very strict budget and well I'm someone who LIKES to spend money on the interwebs on various things. Now this would be okay if they were gifts for other people but most often they are not. So....

How do I block websites from myself?

I figure with some of the spending I do I could be completely debt free by October of 2011 so yea...it may hurt but I have a goal in mind and I would really appreciate the help.

    Thanks much.

There's an add-on for Firefox called Leechblock. It's designed to keep you from spending your whole day on time-wasting sites, but you can also block sites completely. I haven't been able to find a nanny program that works as well.

    Good luck!

There's another way that's mostly free... but it takes a LOT of effort if you aren't use to it... mainly setting up an ACL (access control list) on a router that your stuff goes through.

Alternately, I think you could enter the sites into your HOSTS file (assuming this is Windows) and assign them an IP address of 127.0.0.1.
