Guy “who was late a meeting”

The phone inside the booth rings. I look up, & there is a dark grey car at the exit gate. Several vendors have been arriving to set up for an event sponsored by the President’s office which will take place tomorrow. According to the parking office, I can only let those vendors out for free.

Me: “Visitor parking booth. How may I help you?”
Guy: “I’m at the exit gate, & I do not have a token”
Me: “Were you here for anything in particular?”
Guy: “I need to exit, & I do not have a token”
Me: “You can purchase the token inside the building either at the vending machine located on the garage level or at the parking office on the third floor. You can also get one from the department you went to”
Guy: “I am late for a meeting”
Me: “I’m sorry, I understand that. I understand you have a meeting to attend, but I have to follow department guidelines. I cannot raise the gate. It’s not may call to make”

He backs up. I saw him exit, but he was “not in a hurry”.

But he needs to exit and doesn't have a token!!

Do all garages have such a problem with people wanting to exit and not pay? Or is this a university thing. Anyone?

Nah It's pretty much all garages. Where I work, all lots have 30 minutes free then you pay $2 for any part of an hour. So 31 min. is $2, 61 min ( 1hour 1min) is $4. This may be the only place that would believe the number of folks I see a day fussing about "I wasn't here 30 minutes".
