Like I didn't see this coming

So just before I left work today, I got my yearly review. It was the best one I've ever had I think. Scored an "exceeds expectations" on almost half the items on the review, met expectations on all the rest, and nary a word about my...ahem...attitude.

So why did I see this coming, you ask? Because the company did away with merit raises earlier this year due to the poor economy. They'll be back again next year. Maybe. So I figured they'd lay the flattery on thick knowing they wouldn't have to pay out for it.

By jove, you may be on to something! Of course, next year you could ask if they feel your work has been declining. You know, put them on the spot. It won't change anything but...well....hopefully they'll be uncomfortable.
