Then that's the way we do things!
You would think that since bosses and shift leads come in to work anywhere between 30-60 minutes early every day, that that time would be for the boss to go over who all called in sick or took the day off, who is scheduled for overtime, and any tweeks that need to be made to the schedule (as to where everyone will be working) would be made.
Nope. Not so. Although I do give the shift leads props for making the entire week's schedule all at once, at least they get a rough idea.
However, that's not how that extra time is used. In fact, I have no idea how it's used.
Because without fail, every single shift, people go to their assigned machine, and at least half of them (within the first 5-15 mins of the shift) are told that they have to move, because X person called in or X person signed up for overtime but didn't show up, so and so NCNS'ed....
I understand that people NCNS, I understand that some people wait until 5 mins before the shift to call in, and that there are people who STILL make a habbit of signing up for overtime and then not showing up (and not taking their name off of the list). It'd be a whole other thread to go over why none of these people are ever punished, because when people on my shift pull that, we get verbally or formally written up......
I don't understand why they wait until the shift has already started, people have already gone to their assigned places, before they take a look and see who didn't show up and who isn't there, and then just go around moving people, instead of using that extra time before the shift to go over who called in and who won't be there today, and THEN tweeking the schedule so that no one has to spend part of the night moving around from station to station.
