  • Personal and Confidential, eh?

So, I got a 3-drawer pedestal delivered from the Supply Management Services people today, so I'd finally have somewhere to keep my junk. I threw stuff in the top drawer right away. Nice to clear up my desk a bit.

Checked the middle drawer. Looks like it'll be a nice place to keep some papers I'll need semi-often, maybe some CDs.

Bit later, I check the bottom drawer. It's got stuff in it. All kinds of blank forms, a handbook detailing a collective bargaining agreement from *1991*! And some file folders with "Personal and Confidential" STAMPED ON THEM. The hell. Since they're confidential, I haven't looked in those, but from the blank forms, I'm guessing it's a good thing we don't have HIPPA, or they'd be throwing someone's ass in jail 18 years after the fact.

    Old furniture. Gotta love it.
    Ba'al: I'm a god. Gods are all-knowing.

LOL isnt it nice to see that your personal info is kept highly secure and confidential?? I cant imagine someone finding my personal file from some company I dealt with year ago in the manner you found it. I cringe a lil......
Sorry, my love cannot be bought. And if it could, you obviously don't have enough in your account to do so.

I garbage picked a mid-sized tower once. As I went through the hard drive, I found a bunch of records from the local 'rehab' place - where city mandated recovery often occurred. I recognized several of the names the files were labeled with from the neighborhood. And barely resisted. A sec-grade seven wipe later I was free from temptation, but wow. In 2001-2 SOMEONE in that office should have known better.

Many years ago, I went to a major office supply place to get some DC2120 tapes for my backup drive (shows how long ago it was). The next day I was back to exchange them - when I opened the box, it was obvious that the tapes were used, rather than new - because they were labeled as being backups for a dental office.

Looks like somebody decided to save a bit of money through the "buy, switch, return" discount, not caring that they were returning confidential info. They MIGHT have wiped them - didn't take a look at the contents, just the label - but a crook like that probably wouldn't care.
