  • Robbery!!

I came to work yesterday morning at 7.00 to hear from my colleague that our brand new, big, flat-screen tv's that we got when we remodled a couple of months ago have all been stolen the night before, except on ward 1-North where apparently the entire night staff was gathered because none of them heard or saw a thing!

We had a tv on every ward and we have 6, so minus 1-North that means the 5 large flat-screen tv's were picked up and carried outside into some kind of waiting vehicle without anyone being the wiser.

It's all very suspicious, most of us think it was an inside job, for two reasons really, one because someone had to unlock the door for the robbers, and two because the robbers had to have a good idea of the layout of the old folks home and where the tv's were- not to mention they had to have had some contact from in the house to tell them when it was safe to come in, when everyone was gathered on one ward for example.

There are 5 staff in the house at night, ideally walking the house on all the floors, I have to wonder what they were doing then the night before last that could have let people come in and steal all our tv's when they were there!!?!

And the tv on my ward is sorely missed, we often play old movies and stuff during the day but now they're stuck listening to the radio- not a big hit...

Anyway. pretty sucky because we won't be able to afford new tv's till the insurance pays off so it could be some time.

Anyway, just wanted to share! Does anyone else agree that it must be an inside job? The doors lock automatically at 7.00pm and the night crew comes at 9.00pm and the tv's were noticed to be missing some time after 11.00pm.
It's been a long, long, long, long time...

So you have 5 night employees, and 5 tv's missing. Call me crazy but that sounds a bit fishy to me.

It IS very fishy!! How could they be in the house and not notice that there were several other people there stealing tv's?? I don't say they should be fired but thier work routines should certainly be looked at!

They shouldn't have all been gathered on one ward drinking coffee when there was a major robbery going on. If I had been there I would have felt very guilty for letting this happen.

Also robbing all the different wards must have take some time... How long were they drinking coffee in ward 1-North really?? They should have been walking the floors.

Anyway, quite annoying, thanks for the input. It must have been an inside job but I wonder how they will ever proove it?

I wouldn't be too surprised if the police don't key onto that and take out warrents to check the homes of those five employees to see if any or all of them are sporting brand-new TVs.

Have those 5 employees come back to work yet?

It happened again last night!!! This time they took stuff from our café so it wasn't as expensive.

Our boss got called while she was out at her summer cottage and had to drive a couple of hours to get back here to talk to the police.

Then today the local newspaper came by to do a story about it, I guess I'll have to buy the paper tomorrow...

We've been keeping quiet about it to the patients though because we don't want them to feel unsafe but I did lock their doors before I came home tonight.

Something must be done about the security at my work. This kind of thing just can't continue!!

Stealing from old people really is just low. I hope the police catch whomever is doing this. The situation does smell really fishy.

It's a convalescent home with some ambulatory patients, who might try to escape, so I don't understand why there wasn't some type of CCTV on the exits.

What WG said. I'm amazed there's not cameras in pretty much every public area.
