Welcome to the world of credit card collections! It's not as bad as it sounds (most days), as long as your skin is a bit thick

And of course if you can get away with internal muttering after finishing a call, so much the better

Just keep heart: there are some of us (like me) who honestly forgot to pay something in the mad rush of life. If you're friendly and patient, some of us (like me) will appreciate it and will even tell you so.

I will never forget the collections agent who promised to make sure that his company never reported the collections action to the credit agencies because *I* called *him* as soon as I got the bill and paid it in full. He had only gotten my file on his desk that morning! He kept his word and it never showed up on my credit score.
