  • another day in paradise

I guess I was trying to be funny and failed miserably, and Big Papa hauled me into the front office to tell me so.

Son #2 graduated from college and they're having a party. Of course the wife with 1½ carts goes to the new girl who has NO clue what's going on. When they are attempting to make it a house charge, I look over and say "What are you doing to the poor girl?" Seriously, there were more people involved then there should have been...but the wife assumes everyone knows who she is to set it up as a HC right away.

Big Papa charged over to my register, slammed the light off, blocked off my lane and told me to go to the front office...NOW.

When he gets in, he tells me that he was flabbergasted (his word) by what I said, and insulted. I should not have said it 1. in front of the new girl and 2. in front of customers.

Basically, he expects better from me. He says he holds me in the utmost respect, and is always wanting to give me extra hours and more money. He even sees me promoted to service desk, and eventually sees me in charge of the entire front end.

I apologized profusely to him and to the new girl (who had NO idea what was going on, but she felt bad that I got in trouble). He accepted my apology and all is well again.

And then NMOD accused me of looking at my cellphone when I asked to go home 1 minute before 10. I did not look at all since I am quite capable of checking my watch. He may or may not write it in "the book" that I had my phone in my pocket and not in my locker. If so, I am going to go off, because he only harrasses me about my phone. I can't tell you how many times I've walked up on other employees (even at the service desk) when they were texting. Can we say witch hunt?
    I'm bringing disdain back...with a vengeance.

Oh, and your tool box called...you got out again.

Big Papa has little to no sense of humor and K is just a jerk.

Big Papa's been all smiles since then. He hung out by my register quite a bit between rushes, and had me check out his groceries...an hour before he usually goes home.
