  • How many Star Destroyers would it take to take out a Borg cube?

Now you can try it for yourself!

I'm just disappointed that they didn't include anything from Firefly / Serenity.

Cool, but it looks like it's still in development. There's still time for Firefly. My disappointment is the lack of Super Capital class ships. Super Star Destroyer pwns all. So sayeth Palpatine.

Super Star Destroyer? Pfah! Vorlon Planet Killer takes down anything from Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and Star Wars with the possible exception of the Death Star.

And that last bit is only because the Death Star might manage to get in the first shot.

      Maybe.

        Reminds me of VGA Planets.

There is still at least one site that still runs games.

In reality, would a Star Destroyer be able to modulate it's weapons? If not, then after the first few shots, anything thrown at the Cube will be ineffective.

Unnecessary. All weapons fired at once would damage the cube to the point of requiring a shut-down, assuming a standard Imperial-class Destroyer with armament of 4 Heavy Ion Cannons and 5 Heavy Turbolaser Cannons. Due to the Ion Cannons and Turbolasers operating differently, each would be able to get in a large number of shots before the adaptation was completed.

Can we add Unicron from The Transformers animated film? PLEASE!? I want to see the Chaos Bringer rip ships and planets apart with his bare hands.

This argument is as old as the Internet itself. Besides, everyone knows the Star Destroyers would waste a Borg Cube.

I dunno... The Ion Cannons might have impact. However, the lasers? Quoting from Star Trek, Next Generation, The Outrageous Okona:

"Captain, they are now locking lasers on us."
                    "Lasers!?"
                    "Yes, sir."
"Lasers can't even penetrate our navigation shields. Don't they know that?"
The Borg shields are harder to do damage to than the Federation's shields, so I suspect that the turbolasers would be quite useless.

                      i would think just one.
all you need to do is have one darth vader tap into a borg mind and just mess with them in my opinion.

or throw a death star at it.
                      ya only need one shot

as for a Firefly game... there's always Halo 3
sure it's not firefly but it does have Mal, Wash, & Jayne doing voice overs.

Nathan Fillion commented that it's weird playing against Adam and Alan sometimes cos it's like "was that you talking or the game?"

Turbolasers are not lasers. They are more like blasters which is basically like a plasma bolt or something along those lines.

But this is the problem when you are dealing in cross-genre things. When George Lucas says laser, he is not talking laser in the classic sense. And for the famous laser quote, I'm sure there are otehrs that counter that. It kind of depended on what the writers wanted that week.

One shot from the death star could take out a cube - now, getting a cube close enough to the death star would be a different story.

                          Win.

What about a "Fleet of flying saucers" (a.k.a. Volgon Destructor Fleet) and the Heart of Gold? (Volgons from the BBC series, Heart of Gold from the movie).

Carl Sagan's starship of the imagination could take them all out....He could go from the Earth to anywhere in the Universe within an hour. Plus the fact that it's imagination, he could imagine whatever weapon he'd need....
