Auto Log-Off?

Starting today I've been bumped off the forums and required to log-in again, sometimes when I've been away for an hour or so and sometimes when I'm in the middle of reading a thread. It's not that the forum takes me to a different page or anything, just that when I navigate from a thread back to the forum group page itself (like Sightings), my "Welcome, EvilEmpryss" turns into "Username" and the box for me to enter my password and log on again.

This has never happened before today. Is something wrong with the site?

ADDED: Okay, the site is also not keeping track of the threads I've visited. I went to the SC forum, read a reply to my response there, then came here and read this thread again. When I went back to the SC forum the thread I had just left was marked as unread and there were no new posts in it.

Somebody get their boots on, the bugs are coming out of the woodwork.

There was a security patch released for vBulletin today.

Hiya folks. I know the logout is kinda freaky the first time you see it, but it does happen from time to time. Usually, it only happens when vBulletin itself is updated.

Today, it was updated. We've got the security patch already applied. Took me a few minutes to check, since Raps applied it earlier and I didn't notice until now. But yes, we're good.

Heck, I've seen it happen several times. I don't even think about it, and it is definitely nothing to worry about. It can happen on occasion, and will happen in future I'm sure.

Yeah - I applied the patch and had to log back in myself afterwards. However, your accounts are safer now. There was a possibility of a 'brute force' attack for someone to splurge info and things (specific, I know, and full of technical terms).

The requirement to log back in somewhat surprised me as well.

Is it permenant, or just a temporary thing? It's not a show stopper, but it *is* rather annoying.

When you get logged out, you can't see all of the forums untill you log back in again.

As Pedersen said, it only happens when a patch is applied, or the server has a service interruption.

I just find it funny, considering I was gone from the site for a couple of *years* and, when I came back, found I was still logged in...

Sorry, but I'm dense. If it's because of the patch, will it be permanent? The glitch is still happening today, and now it *is* bumping me out to a separate login page, tho not every time (I was in Morons in Management when it happened last).

It's continuously doing that? If so, then delete your cookie and try logging in again.
