  • Street Fighter 2

I just remembered this story from a long time ago from 1 of my first jobs. It was 1994 and I was working usher. A customer was having trouble playing Street Fighter 2, so I showed them how to play the game better, with my favorite character Chun-Li anyway. They were playing as Blanka. The customer thanked me.
An hour or two later, I get pulled into the office by a manager.
Manager: Why were you playing video games on the clock?
Me: Well, I was just trying to show them how to play better.
Manager: You are not supposed to do that. I should write you up.
At this point I am trying to think of a way to weasel my way out of this, and my mind is thinking fast and hard.
Me: Sir, I was providing great customer service.
    Manager: How so?
Me: Well, they needed help playing the game, I helped them out, and they were very thankful. They even said they were going to come back to our theatre again, thanks to me. (I made this part up)
It did not appear that the manager really believed me, but I did not get written up. Needless to say, this was the last time I did that. But its still unbelievable that I did not got written up.

That's funny. I never would have taken you for the video game type.

Back in the late 1970's, I had 1 of the first Ataris that came out, and throught the next few years or so, my collection swelled to over 50 games. It eventually broke after being fixed about a dozen times and sat around in our garage for years. When I found a place that could fix it, I searched and tried to find it, only to discover from my dad that he donated it to charity! I will never forgive him for that.
I was completely hooked into video games from then on at the very young tender age of 4 or 5. Today I am still hooked into video games, although I'm not 1 of those guys who will spend hours in front of a computer playing Warhammer World Of Warcraft.
Btw while we're on the subject, who was everyone's favorite Street Fighter character? Mine was Chun-Li simply because I just seemed to do great with her and I liked her moves.

Me too. I could only beat the game (especially Vega) "easily" with Chun-Li because of the wall jumps.
