  • Must Be Nice To Not Need A Job!

Like there are tons of jobs available right now anyway....

It looks like we are back to where we were 2 years ago at the factory....panic hiring. Massive boatloads of temps, almost all of them shady or nuts.

I found out from my former coworker Michelle who is now a trainer that their department was supposed to get 3 new trainees this week.

Supposed to......one of them quit before orientation even started (as in, got offered the job, accepted, and quit!) and the other two quit just one or two days into orientation.....before the tour of the plant or meeting anybody!

Must be nice to not need a job! Oh well, I guess it's a good thing....they would have probably been problem employees anyways.

Hmm, reminds me of incoming new cadets. Some sign up for the class and then just flake off and not show up for orientation. T's us off b/c we've ordered things for them.

Reminds me of when I got hired as a newspaper carrier. On my second day of training:

Manager: "Wow, you actually showed up!"
Me: "Um, yeah, why wouldn't I?"
Manager: "Most people don't show up after the first day."

I feel bad for the guy, that he wastes time training people who decide to quit after one day. He seemed genuinely surprised that I showed up, so he must get it a lot.

Geez Blas. You'd think with jobs being what they are right now, the temp agency would work a little harder at getting better employees. I mean, they've gotta be out there. I'm surprised the higher ups aren't a littler more picky about their prospective work force.

With the current economy the job market (particularly in my region) has been down in the dumps and it's not easy to get something, hell not even a job at Mickey D's. I'm surprised that the agency/higher ups aren't being picky about the people they hire on for Blas' employer.

By the end of the first week, my store is lucky to have even two out of seven hired show up -- yes there are better offers out there but with the way things are now, it would be best to keep this job until something better comes along.

I keep telling management the same thing: let ME do the interviews. I betcha 97% of the people who apply won't make it past the first five minutes of the interviews as I can, and will, weed out the people who'll waste the hours that could have been given to someone else that needs them more then the person who doesn't show up after the third day.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

Another job offer? I highly doubt it.....while my place of work isn't one to shout about, it's a GOOD thing we are doing so well that we need all this extra help and I mean....this is a job where you could get hired on permanently and get benefits and insurance...HELLO......

Well I suppose maybe unemployment is better. Idk.

Don't ask me why they still let just anyone in when half of them don't even last. One of my former classmates showed up at the job fair two weeks ago and was so scared of all the people that she thought she didn't have a chance and left.

I wanted to verbally smack her. Don't be intimidated by a bunch of random joe schmos, when half of them probably won't make it past orienation!
